Can you find out if any manual close to me? Zip 22315. Thanks.

For some reason I can't search your region. I'm sorry. I went through the whole list of dealers in VA and selected them, but then it doesn't let me search that region. How stupid!

Try this thread titled "Want to know where the closest BRZ at a dealer is":

It might be a dealer demo. There's a dealer near me that has had one since June - they use it to sell pre-orders.

Yep, there's a whiteout AT sitting 5 mins away from me. I'm still waiting for my financial situation to get better and I'm waiting on a MT. I think the AT's are waiting longer than the MT's. I was at a Toyota/Scion dealership about 35 mins away and they received two in on the same day and the MT sold same day while the AT stayed for about 3 weeks. Not to mention the AT's are MSRP'ing at ~ $27k because it's coming with ALL THE OPTIONS.

When I ordered my 6spd I was told 2-3 months and I had them check regional inventories to see if they could pull a trade with another dealer. No luck. That was only 2 weeks ago :(

Try cars.com and I'm seeing and called dealers and they have stocks

I can confirm that Autos are easier to get and will sit for a bit before we sell them. The manuals however, are a different ball game. The only way to get one is to have one to give back (color swap) or have a dealer that is desperate to get the one you have. We were just a beneficiary of this and got a Argento 6MT for our Whiteout 6AT.

I think in my area, as colder weather approaches and possibility of snow, etc in northeastern PA, the availability will improve for all versions. I'm hoping to get an Asphalt in at some point. It's the only color I have not seen in person yet.

Koons apparently has two MTs (white and red).

Which dealership? I'm in Gastonia, and the scion dealer here said they can't keep ANY FR-S in stock for more than 2 days. I haven't even got to see one in person yet, much less drive one.

Completely opposite in the Dallas area.

There are 8 FR-S on dealer lots, 6 of them are manuals and two are automatics. The dealer in Rockwall, TX told me that if I wanted a manual he could get me any color within two weeks. If I wanted automatic it would be two months.

CBThib307 09-11-2012 03:43 PM

My area seems to be the exact opposite. All Autos are spoken for for about three months but it's very easy to find manuals.

I think with more people getting these as their DD now, you'll see the demand for Auto go up. I test drove an Argento Auto and the day after it was gone. I put my Asphalt Auto on order, then they got in a Firestorm Manual that sat for a week or so, and wanted to know if I wanted that instead. Another Firestorm Auto came in the same day as mine, and that sold literally the same day I picked my Auto up.

Guess it just depends on area and a lot of DD preference. I honestly didn't want a manual because for one it's just not my preference with so much stop and go and traffic/commute around here. Also some members of my family will occasionally drive my car and they don't really know how to use it either.

I am extremely happy with my Auto. Ill usually just put it in sport mode and use paddle shifters when I want to.

Geezer 09-11-2012 05:09 PM

What Thanntos says makes sense - the enthusiasts who wanted them day one all wanted manual transmissions - but now that the more mainstream driver has heard about them the demand for automatics is increasing.

The Dealership I'm talking about in particular is called Toyota/Scion West. It's located on exit 49 B on Interstate 77. If you're coming from SC then it'd probably take an hour/ Hour and a half. Not that bad of a drive as long as you schedule the car for a test drive. When my wife and I took it out for a drive, I scheduled ahead so they would have it outside of the showroom. The salesperson asked me if I wanted to drive it and I looked at my wife and she looked content with seeing how it was going to ride. The salesman was like "Just take it, I'm not getting in the backseat." When we got in, I was like,"Awww, dammit..... An Auto." We still took it out because it would give me an idea of how the car handles. Took it out for about 10 miles and came back. Didn't drive it hard or nothing, I respect a car's break-in period. Took it on some country roads to feel the cornering potential. It was really nice. My wife said something along the lines of,"The car's really bouncy." I just chuckled.

The dealership offered to trade with another dealership for one that I wanted, but once we looked at numbers, I knew I had to wait to put some more money down. My CREDIT IS SHAT!

So probably gonna wait on a 2014 model. I read there may even be improvements to the engine's head/intake system by then. That'd be a nice bonus for not having my financials right at the time of the test drive.
