People who make turns/lane changes before signalling; then only to signal while in the process of doing it...

1. People who flick their cigarettes out the window without any concern.
2. Being behind the aforementioned douchenozzle.
3. When your UPS just shuts down and takes everything with it. FML
4. When you realize you have no backup plan for your backup...

What a night! LOL I think I need a rebuild!

ERRMAHGERD ME TOO!!11!!

Use whatever level of grammar you please. Just remember that you lose a bit of credibility every time you hastily skip a keystroke.

lol thats not really fair. im a science major not a english/journalism major. im not sure what it is you do, or why you prefer to have perfect grammar on forums. i just dont like to waste my time capitalizing my letters, and putting punctuation marks unless im turning it in for a grade. at most i will put periods and commas so it wont be a run on.

CircuitJerk 09-08-2012 01:49 AM

I've become a little lax over the years when it comes to all that. After all, it's a car forum in the OT area.
Let's not get mired down in principles of grammar, punctuation and spelling and have some fun.

That shit really grinds my gears!

Think of it this way. The thing that you consider such a waste of your precious time and energy is so easy to do that you use more energy in a day pulling your phone out of your pocket to check the time than you would extending your pinky at the beginning of ever sentence. You post on the internet. This means you care enough about your thoughts to put them out into the world. Do you want those thoughts to be taken seriously by the people who are reading them?

The idea that using proper grammar is a "waste of time" and that certain people should not be held to such a standard, however low it may be, because their strengths lie elsewhere reflects a lazy, entitled mentality that is frightfully pervasive in the current generation of undergraduate students.

i think that a lot of it comes from the fact that i usually type in word. word will capitalize my words for me and now i have a bad habit.

I'm not sure how lack of punctuation marks, or uncapitalized letters can make a statement difficult to understand. I post on the internet to share my opinion, and socialize. I honestly don't care if people assume that i can't use correct grammar, as long as i get the point across. I spend hours everyday taking notes, most of the time i won't even be able to finish writing out an entire word. I know people can clearly understand the point i try to get across when i make a post, and i know that i am capable of using proper grammar when i need to. I also don't think its right to label a group as lazy, because they don't find it necessary to have perfect grammar when posting on something as meaningless as an internet forum. People prioritize what they spend their time and energy on. Is an individual lazy because they don't get up and exercise everyday? Or if they do not perfect their omelette when cooking breakfast, because that time and effort could be spent doing something else? Internet grammar nazis are usually just some pretentious hipster kid trying to impress others by pointing out peoples grammar mistake on something that has very little meaning, not implying this is you. However, i am offended that you implied i am lazy because i choose to use my time and effort somewhere else. My point is made, and i'm not looking for :fighting0040: So i am just going to agree to disagree.

Proper grammar should not be something you need to think about.

I hate when I have to read a post and decipher it to figure out what someone is trying to say because their grammar is so terrible.

BTW, where's the side boob hour?:D

On the subject of grammar on an internet forum. I don't care as long as I don't need to try to decipher the post. If you misspell a word or miss some punctuation I doubt I'd even notice. But there are limits.

What grinds my gears: 1) People that think I'm more generous then god. As in, 'god helps those that help themselves.' If gods not willing, don't ask me.

2) Religion. Not any particular religion or group of people, but the institution itself.

3) People that say motion sickness is all in your head. Yeah, because I thought my way into throwing up my stomach lining and being so dehydrated that it took three liters of saline to get my blood pressure over 90 in order to get me to come to. And oh yeah, I'm using it as an excuse to not work. Mean while I didn't pass out until after I fixed the problem that no one else onboard had the skills to fix and if it didn't get fixed we would have lost propulsion and capsized.... Fuckin' idiots.

4) Common sense. Don't even get me started.

5) People that say Swag. ^^ :)
