Oil is cheap, engines are not. Use the best oil that you can find that is available to you. All of the research that I have done lately on different brands, weights and grades has led me to the choice of oils that are ILSAC rated GF-6 if you are direct injected and boosted. That is what I am choosing for my engine.
The oil that the OP is looking at purchasing is GF-5 rated. It will most likely suffice if he is still naturally aspirated, but a GF-6 oil will give your engine added protection if you are adding boost. |
I'm pretty sure that, for DD service it will be fine. GF - 6 as I understand it, adds LSPI to the standard. Nothing wrong with that, but our cars have been running fine on GF - 5 for a long time and they'll probably keep on doing so.
Personally, i get Pennzoil Plat at walmart for $22/5L. That's about 2X the KIrkland, Amazon, Supertech price, but I sleep just a wee bit better and only spend the money a couple of times a year. And, I chafe at the idea of putting more $$$ in Amazon/Bezos' pockets |
