A lot of the time, if it keeps happening after checking normal issues mentioned above, it is the gears themselves inside timing cover. Getting the cover off is the worst part. Watched this video to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCQ5YiQ1pjQ

I had a P000A for a few weeks, replaced all of the solenoids for each bank and no issues at all now.

Had a similar issue on my Toyota GT86, 2013 EU. I was getting P0017 and P0019 when checking for error codes. Usually CEL showed up on a faster drive up a mountan pass but wasn't reproducable on each drive. Took it to a dealer where they suggested a ECU rom update (had calid 700G installed is an older version). For some reason the dealer wasn't able perform software update–long story short–I bought a Tactrix adapter and update ECU to A01G myself without any issues. No CEL, no rough idle since updating (~6 months).

How did you know which ECU rom to go with ?

I recommend starting here https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62332
Basically got a Tactrix cable and used Ecuflash to read rom from ECU.
