@Vracer111 makes a good point. Stereo upgrades in this car can sound great at low speeds, but once you’re up to 50mph+, there is so much other noise that reduces the impact. I had the OEM Audio Plus upgrade on my previous FR-S. Great around town, but not so much on the freeway. It’s a fixable problem if you want to add sound insulation.

there was no budget. i entertained options up to $2k for the front stage until i got frustrated listening to 'the best', but none of those options had satisfactory acoustics for me.

I hadn't heard of them before. I considered hybrid audio, but there wasn't anyone local that sold or demo'ed them.

Audiofrog's audiophile grade stuff looks interesting, but when my dayton esoterics have a very similar build, and are only $310/pr, I'm doubtful they'll justify the $400 price difference.

I've got no problem paying extra for something that is actually better, i just got really tired of trying the top offerings from jl, hertz, pioneer and alpine. The whole while, i always came away unimpressed with the midbass response, or found they crossed the tweeter too low causing distortion at higher power levels.
