Whether you choose black or red mudflaps is really a personal choice that only you will have to decide for yourself. Red is much more flashy, black more subtle. Do you want flashy or subtle? I think both colors go fine with your car color.

You didn’t ask whether or not you should get mudflaps, but since some are arguing against it, I have to chime in too. Mudflaps have a functional use. Those that say don’t use them must only think they’re for looks and not need them. Whether or not they’re ugly, that’s a personal opinion. I never thought Julia Roberts was anything special to look at but hey, I’ll take Kate Beckinsale any day! Lol. To each his own, right. The car scene would be rather boring if there were only one way to mod a car. In any case, I drive through crappy, dirty, muddy, rocky, dusty, wet, leafy, dirty roads a lot (did I mention dirty) and got sick of constantly cleaning the sides of my car from the tires spraying up wet dirty crap all over. Much less to clean off after the mudflaps.

I was looking at the Rokblokz too but decided on the Rally Armor ones because I didn’t like the big RB logo. I went with red for my WRB because my wife picked the color and happy wife, happy life, especially when it comes to the car. Lol. I like that the RB ones have more color choices though.

Regarding the red, when dirty, it will be duller, more muted, and have a lot less pop to the color. The pics of red RA flaps on the twins that I see are always nice and clean and the color just pops out at you. In real life, when you run them dirty (if you’re not a garage queen and depending on the dirtiness of your roads), the pop is less and it’s a little less flashy than the clean red flaps. Just FYI.

Just FYI for others, the GORILLA rock guards I linked to in my first reply above have NO logo of any kind on them. :)

The main difference is that RallyArmor flaps are floppy, and more of a "rally style" flap. Rokblokz (or the ones I have, which are GORILLA brand) are stiff plastic that doesn't flap around. The larger RallyArmor flaps make sense for an off-road vehicle, but I think they look silly on our cars. Also, the RallyArmor flaps mount using an additional bracket, and I don't like that mounting method. The GORILLA rock guards bolt right into the fender well (into existing holes) and it's a cleaner, simpler, sturdier install, IMHO.

A lot of people think they're just a style thing. I did NOT install them for style reasons. I installed them because I wanted to protect the paint on the side of the car from rocks. When you upgrade to a 9" wheel, lower the car slightly, and put a few degrees of camber on it, the bottom of the wheel is much further out. Then put sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the car, and rocks start to be flung into the body work. I also autocross the car with RE71Rs, and those basically sandblast the car.

These are the ones I purchased. I wound up trimming about 3/4" off the bottom of them because I was barely scraping them on the ground during the more violent transitions in autocross. Rokblokz sells a "shortie" version but they are TOO short for my tastes and looked weird since they didn't even clear the bottom of the rocker panel.

Can you comment, on how well those bracket less might do if parking over kerb in reverse? Due rear having higher ground clearance i sometimes have to do it, and I had teared out those brackets of rallyarmor ones few times, as they are below bumper line. Thinking if RB or these Gorilla ones may do better letting bracketless mudguards bend till wheel makes contact to kerb ..

I went with Rally Armor. I think black with red lettering looks better than red with black lettering on a black car.

Why?

I have mud flaps on just for the winter. They are what I refer to as "rally rice" but they serve a function.

Just make sure the flaps are level and you wont catch any hate from me!!

Anyone know which, if any, mud flaps will fit the 2017 BRZ? The only thing I see marked as 2017 is the OEM Toyota which looks like its specific to the 86 (and I don't want the OEM flaps anyway). I sent an inquiry to Gorilla through their website probably a week ago and haven't heard anything yet.

The rally armor fit the 2017 (I installed them).
I think most of the mudflaps should fit, because I don't think there is a difference between the brz 2017 and previous years regarding that section of the car. The 86 has a different rear bumper for 2017, so I don't know if that make a difference.

Looks to me like it's on the back side of the front tire.

They are on the front to protect the side skirt. The OEM mudflap no longer fit after installing the side skirt. I like them.
