I hope this is true! If I wasnt at work I would go pull mine out and check right now.

If they r silicone, I heard somewhere on here that its. Danger to put them in the oven like the headlights cuz the plastic is more sensitive & the LEDs don't hold up to the heat well..... If someone tries it anyways plz let me know. I want to fix that nasty chrome

They are not silicone attached. They are fused and require a cutting tool of some sorts to open...

We are trying to get a hold of a BRZ for a shop car... to bad GA got one of the lowest allocations in the country! Everyone I have tried to get has been spoken for lol...
On the tail lights we are looking for someone in GA who wouldnt mind bringing their car by or who wants mods done to their headlights and tail lights. Whoever, we can get would get it at cost... We have done lots of 370z's, G37s and STI's. Here is a link to our thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12167 |

We have only been able to see them at the dealer and we saw what looks to be silicone on the edge's where the lens meets the case. Now If you know otherwise please post up a picture for the community. Thanks, Mike |

This is VERY UNCOMMON for Ultrasonic sealed taillights... and pretty common on silicon sealed lights. Usually you see this on Ultra sonic lights when (car accident in history cause crack, Dust boots for light bulbs get old and water seeps through and etc...). However, it is fairly common on silicon sealed lights if the silicone isnt properly applied or just fails to seal correctly. So in conclusion outside of wear and tear or physical damage it is highly unlikely for ultrasonic sealed lights to leak and cause condensation. Silicone on the other hand is more common. |
There is the off chance it was built incorrectly too...
Direct from Toyota via Moto-P: "Ok guys, problem solved at the assembly line, according to CE. And here's what to do if you have mild condensation. There seems to have been some tail-lamp assembly not fully seated in the body bezel and screwed into place, causing tiny crack in the housing back side on rare cases. To inspect, just loosen the tail-lamp housing nuts, and see if there are any cracks. If not just screw it back in, and your car should be perfectly fine." So for the instance above it could be a crack in the housing as I stated earlier. It would be nice for someone to pull a light and take a pic or if I could find a BRZ Limited within 500 miles... |
FYI: sw20kosh has taken the plunge on this. Check out this thread.

I was just about to post that.
|
I already posted in his thread. Hopefully he can give us some clarity on the status of the seal.
