Took my car in in September and showed them the TSB for the window freezing and door stripping issues. Two weeks latter they called and said the parts were in and I could bring it around any time. Dropped by a couple of days later and 45 minutes later drove away with al new window stripping, guides and switches. They also filled my windshield washer tank and checked all the fluid levels for no charge.
All Service Departments are not created equal!

Can't deny that. I just have never had a good experience there with stuff.

Makes me recall the time they told me they'd need the car for a couple days, but wouldn't give me a rental in the mean time. That can tell you how much they wanted to help me.

Hey Perr do you have this TSB for cracked lenses? I know there is one for gasket leaks but the one for cracked lenses shows as an invalid link on the TSB thread. I could not find it anyplace else and it is worth replacing if you happen to have it.

tcoat: its here. the one on the tsb page is mislinked or something.

Excellent we will get it moved since it apparently wasn't back then.

I wish my dealer was that helpful. Unfortunately I live in the heart of UAW country so its at least an hour to any other dealer. Im still laughing at the fact they put in writing that having the key inside the car while filling the tank causes a check engine light. :iono:

I have a friend that works at a Toyota Dealership over summers, he said for stuff like TCM or ECU flashes like the TSB we had to deal with they don't make any money the labor charge isn't really reimbursed by Toyota. That's why for all of us involved with the TSB it was a pain in the ass , especially for those of us with issues not included in the TSB i.e screwed up rev matching. Stingy dealerships suck and I can totally understand people wanting to avoid dealerships now, but the problem is widespread with other manufacturers as well. One day when dealerships are more like Tesla and not a franchise, it will be way less common.

this tsb is about misaligned truck lids and if they are pressed on can crack tail lamps, it sounds like the face of his light was cracked that is completely different.

a double update: the original dealer called me after all this and apologized. i think more so cause i left a scathing google review of the service dept.

then! subaru of anerica sent me a dyson vaccuum in the mail as a gift for 'letting them help make my situation better.'

so thats pretty cool and nothin but props to soa. also goes to show that you dont have to sit by and get taken advantage of. some of the checkpoints and systems do work for us consumers.
