Most other detailing stuff ill deal with myself. i just need to get the proper tools :) Plus then the wife's X1 (it was always hers. the Scion was mine but it was always a stopgap until I got the 86) will get some love too :D (i made a scratch on the rear bumper awhile back which I need to buff away) More observations: -VERY different clutch/shifter action than the iM. I think it might actually be somewhat easier to drive this car than the iM. The Scion's grab point is early but the pedal travel is very long, so you have like say 1 inch to get to the grab point, then like 6 inches of dead travel. The 86 is much more even, so like 1inch to the grab point and another 1inch to the end of the travel. Without the amount of play with the clutch i have to be a bit faster with my reactions and more accurate with my coordination. -Gotta get used to the shifter lol. Short and tighter throws, vs long and sloppy throws. It was kind of easy to figure out which gear i was in in the scion due to how long each gate is, but slightly less obvious in the 86. Sometimes i would "forget" what gear I'm in though, so the 86's gear indicator ont he dash helps with that :). Reverse is easier to get into in the 86. Could have just been the im's clutch being far more "broken in" than the 86. (55,000kms vs 150kms lol) -Not a huge huge fan of the smaller steering wheel, but the leather is way better feeling than the so-called "leather" in the scion (it was adverised as leather wrapped in the iM...but its more like plastic with stitching). I do prefer a meaty steering wheel like in our X1 though (i think the pre-refresh twins were thicker too). Steering wheel buttons are actually kinda small. -Obvious power difference. Low end is punchier. It feels much more effortless and stronger when accelerating in 2nd gear than the iM. Power builds pretty much the same way. I have not noticed the torque dip at all. I think i even got it to 4k RPM (wasnt really paying attention) and still didnt notice it. The one time i did punch it there was a noticeable kick at around the 5k rpm mark (still breaking in, so i dont want to push it yet....plus i want the front end protection first before taking it out for leasurely drives with occasional redlining) -Tried putting a travel sized bottle of sanitizer in the cubby...did not fit lol. -The ride is quite good. Its stiff but its not uncomfortably stiff or wallow soft at all. -I have the 18"s so I believe they're equipped with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and not the slidy Michelin Primacy's. I bet it'll be softer with a different tires like what we did with the X1 (OEM Bridgestone Potenzas were noticeably harder/stiffer than the Continental DWS06 we swapped them out for) Just loving this car :D |

Took my little giggle machine to our first Cars and Coffee today. Saw a few other Twins, plus several hundred other cars, and some unique/unusual stuff.

I also have these on, and I love the extra LED turn signal functionality! I did have some condensation in the plastic bars after a month, but it doesnt affect anything. However, I reached out to FTSpeed and they sent me new ones without issue. Now ive got the other pair just sitting in a box. Anyone - Make an offer and its yours, they still work and look great!! |

I definitely googled it out of curiosity lol I'll be twice as excited when my headlight plugs get here so I can make a small plug and play harness. Did you just tap the headlight harness? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Went for a drive, did not crash.
I specifically went looking for the torque dip cuz i wanted to see what it felt like and to be honest...i didnt notice it AT ALL. Driving normally within speed limits and not gunning it off the line i never thought the torque dip will ever present itself in any significance so when i did some cruising, then dropping a few gears to get into torque dip area and pressed the gas....there was a good amount of pull. Accelerated from a stop and redlined it shifting up till i got to third...didnt notice it. Didnt feel any kind of drop in power where the dip would be.....nothing. I can't feel the dip but i can feel stronger pull in the 5-6k range to redline.... I even had the info graph up so i can see that i am in the torque dip area, and when i pressed the gas....there was noticeable pull. I was actually kind of expecting the dip to feel like pressing the gas while one gear too high...but I guess ill never know or even care now. Maybe the final drive change in 2017 helped hide alot of it compared to pre-facelift (i dont know i never drove a pre-facelift car beyond a test drive ages ago) Perhaps its just in my nature to drop one or 2 gears if i feel the car isnt moving regardless of what gear im in (driving mostly torqueless wonder machines would make you do that) If the only way i can notice it is if im in 5th or 6th going up a hill? why would i do that? If Im going up a hill, im dropping down to whatever gear gives me pulling power. OH and i wanted to test the carplay feature in the head unit (cuz i never used it before) so i did :) |

a smooth torque curve will build consistently, and won't have a noticeable difference in power between rpm's. |
