Just use plasti dip... If you don't like it rip it off... same effect just no consequences at the end!

oh? i didnt know you can use plastidip for the housing, i shall try that then thanks!

I just used regular metallic gray spray paint that I got at Home Depot. No issues at all yet and I did this months ago.

Yeah, you could use plastidip and remove it if you want, but you still have to take the headlight housing back apart to remove it.

painting isnt the issue.. its just removing the headlight and taking it apart

ima go to junkyard and practice on some shit headlights =D

For a complete painting and automotive noob, how hard would this be if I followed the instructions?

DarrenDriven 09-12-2012 12:31 PM

I wrote the DIY and I had never EVER split apart headlights before. Everything turned out awesome... no issues at all. Just take your time and allow your reflectors to dry overnight before trying to reassemble everything. Things go wrong when you are pinched for time.

Prava 09-12-2012 06:03 PM

@DarrenDriven how long did this process take? Can I do it over the weekend as my first time ever doing this and finish?

Wes 09-12-2012 07:04 PM

so i decided to give this an attempt, im having a hard time with the side markers, as i am not trying to break the clip or anything, i shall try again tomorrow

DarrenDriven 09-12-2012 08:57 PM

@Prava - I took them apart in the evening, painted them... then in the morning I reassembled them and was driving before lunch.

@Wes - good luck with the side markers. I'm happy that I broke mine and now just use a small zip tie to hold them in securely. When I need to remove them I just cut the zip tie and use a new one. Works MUCH better than the stock clips.

_F-R-S_ 09-12-2012 09:33 PM

hm i only have 1 day off of work a week. soo impossible for me to do this

Wes 09-12-2012 10:03 PM

@DarrenDriven - thanks Darren, i guess worst case scenario i'll just use that method then, i would hate to have to remove those sidemarkers again so i guess zip ties would be more efficient
@_F-R-S_ just start very early and reassemble in evening i suppose, thats what i was planning to do as soon as i can take out those dang side markers lol
