Got annoyed at how prominent the torque dip has been feeling recently. Can't figure out what it is. Increased familiarity and awareness for the car? Dirty air filter from all the pollen? Warmer weather? AC was on? Anyone ever noticed that? Been driving it 8K and it's never been this obvious. It almost feels like the car is being held back by TCS, although I'm in track mode.

Although it could be anyone of the things you mentioned or all of them, based on the mileage and the recent temps, I think it's familiarity and awareness. I'm going through the same thing at 15K.

I'm leaning towards those two as well. Although another owner was telling me recently how the 2017 86 doesn't have a torque dip and it's zippy, and I can very clearly detect one. Still firmly present lol

lol I still think the car is zippy, but the longer I drive it the more I look down and find myself above 4k consistently. It's helping!

What I've noticed recently is that at 5K the car almost lunges forward. That 3-4K interval is just awful. I need a tune asap

3 or 4 K interval? The "dip" lasts for about a tenth of a second if you are acclerating in the right gear for the speed you are doing. All the way up to 4 should be fine and after about 4500 is great.
Oh and the 17s have exactly the same dip.

Yes, you do need a tune ...... your gear selection and shift points needs to be "tuned" ....... :D

you have to make sure your bit is the exact right size. Mine was smaller a bit and I hammered forever. With the right size it came out in a minute

Go to the home improvement store and buy the correct size punch (I found it online, maybe in an ft86sf video) it is worth every penny

Changed the Cabin intake Valve and replace handbrake nooooob

2 Attachment(s)
Changed the intake cabin valve for the RED TRD and change the handbrake nooooob for an ebay version - the thread whole was to long and had to stuff bits inside to make it shorter, what do you expect for an ebay $13.

I also changed the carbon fibre handbrake, looks much blinger.......

Attachment 154393

While I was changing the cabin Valve I managed to drop my pliers down the engine bay just above the header.........

Attachment 154394

had to jack the car up and get under the car and luckly reach through under the engine througth a gap and get them.......few

Also changed the intake filter for a K&N filter, I see what people mean about it being oily........maybe I can use some olive oil next time to clean it........hummmmm

I was gonna say you might have flared the end if you weren't using the right size.
Is your punch flat or slightly rounded?
