Pretty expensive joke.

Guess that's why there's no wrx hatchback? Too busy getting the funding together to troll the world with a fake concept car as a joke lol.

Thats not a production bumper, spoiler, or wheels. Even the door handles look concept.

Thinking about it, my guess is that its a style concept for the re-styling of the BRZ for next years model. Subaru does this occasionally for restyle years.

Note: Anyone else see the flat tail lights?

About time someone said this.

Concept for a mid-cycle refresh. This is not gonna be any STi version, why? Because this is SoA, and the prospect of them being the one to announce what would be an STI JP product is extremely unlikely given how many other STi models of other Subaru cars we never got here in the US. With that being said, there is already a BRZ STi, and as much as people dismiss the tS as not it, its a product that was initiated, funded, developed, tested, released, and sold by STI Japan....so sounds like an STi car to me. STi has been using the tS moniker for many of their cars over the past couple years (its just a badge) and just because it doesn't have turbo doesn't dismiss the vehicle as something that's not a more hardcore version of it. The fact is, companies, surprise surprise, have the freedom to try out new things and go in different directions with each product, and the BRZ tS just happens to be the path they chose.

Also, I got a chance to talk to one of the head project engineers for Toyota alongside Tada-san and he confirmed that both cars would be getting a mid-cycle facelift, so this concept would fall in line with revealing an updated design

Didn't the WRX STI concept debut in the US?

Those are definitely not full size mirrors. They're maybe 2-3 inches high, no way they'd make production.

Don't various states have height restrictions on DRLs and foglights? For instance, in California foglights must be from 12 to 30 inches off the ground. I can't help but think that a light strip at the bottom edge of the bumper wouldn't meet that requirement.

Which makes me think that this is either a concept car made purely for the car show circuit or that it won't be coming to the US. If it is coming to the US, I would not expect that bottom light section to be there.

If that spec for fog lights is correct, the factory fog lights are already out of spec...

I thought the door handle looked weird. Reminds me of the painted on door handles the Camaro had on their concept...

Wouldn't it be a bit much for just a mid cycle refresh though? If it is, this must be one hell of a mid cycle refresh. I'm just thinking to cars like the new Toyota's and Lexuses. They are making a change into their new corporate grill and they did create concepts for the new design style, but not for an individual car of the same generation? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Odd there is no camera info in the Exif data from those pics.

The359 04-01-2015 01:33 AM

Because I copied it from Instagram. It's not a raw photo.

It's also not fake.
