Look under the hood, your insurance paper and transponder paper work it says, "Toyota". The only reason why it's under Scion in North America is sales are declining for them and it fits under their current car lineup. It's more of a sub-brand.

And I'm not talking about a $40 ebay kit. I'm talking a factory HID setup.

My TRS retrofit is night and day different from the holagen projectors.. And the brights with the bi-xenon just lights up everything.. The best thing I did to the car.. But still it was less then 200$ to do the retrofit

Woah! How has this thread gone on for so many pages. Our cars are family and we should be supporting each other. There are plenty of others who would have our cars fail and they don't care if it is a BRZ or an FR-S or a GT86. We have plenty of enemies without looking for more in our own house. This in-fighting needs to stop.

Agreed. This is such a stupid, pointless topic.

It's like true siblings lol... I think a lot has to do with people thinking they have to justify why that bought what they bought. Subaru people might need to feel why they have to explain spending the extra money on headlights seats and a navi unit, scion/ Toyota people feel they have to explain why they call it a Toyota when it's branded as a scion, and why they spent less money.. Subaru people generalized to be more sophisticated while scion people tend to be.. What younger.. In the end, it's the same car with a different bumper.. I've never been part of a forum, say clubxterra.org, where they would argue their model, say the SE was better then the regular, because they had leather power seats.. That's basically what a BRZ is, a trim package of the car with a different bumper and different suspension settings

Scion, Toyota, Subaru...

I don't care if it was a Puegot/Fiat/Commie-muslimwagon. I still would have bought it. Well, I might be exaggerating a little bit here. :D

I think you can call it whatever you want lol as long as you're happy

but I think some Scion FR-S/GT86 owners are annoyed at those who say it's a Subaru and Toyota didn't do anything.

This is 100% a fact. Scion sales were down and Toyota needed to boost Scion sales thus the Scion FR-S.

Also, talking to a friend of mine who works for Toyota, said that youngsters aren't buying Toyotas, so that was a part of the decision. Toyota = Buick in the eyes of many.

As someone who normally only bought Italian or American that was my view they sold slow family cars that got good gas millage then this came along and I started to remember some of the cool cars they made years ago

The only reason they used a FR-S and he calls it an FR-S is because he is doing an interview for a market where the car is called that. It would not make sense for them to call it by the Toyota 86 name when buyers who see the interview can't actually buy it. It would be too confusing.

The producer added the FR-S graphics. He never says "Scion" when referring to the development.

All of the original concept cars from the snap were TOYOTA. Even in the video you posted he says "Then at the time, TOYOTA announced its collaboration with Subaru. It was an amazing coincidence and it felt like destiny."

Read this Brochure: There is no mention of Scion in that anywhere.

Maybe I am confused. Are you saying that Scion, the company Toyota started as a means to lure younger buyers, and Toyota are not the same company?

chulooz 01-18-2013 10:26 AM

Same company different brand.
