It's fine. The part of the gasket you can see is not actually doing anything. It's outside the perimeter of the mating surfaces. It cracks because the excess is literally squeezed out a bit. Pretty common. |

Question:
Is using a crush washer really important? Or it's also possible to use a normal m18 washer to seal the plug? Thanks! |

However, what is the difference between the small thin kind and the thicker ones? Ala the drain plug "washer" and the filler plug "washer" |

Honestly, sometimes it's just "We buy lots of these because we already use them on that other thing so it's cheaper by $0.02/1000 units." |
just swapped trans fluid this weekend, purchased the 4L kit from Modbargains.
Shifts were good before, but now its ultra smooth! http://www.modbargains.com/images/FR...comparison.jpg http://www.modbargains.com/images/FR...%20of%205).jpg |
Amazing
Just changed the transmission and differential oil with Motul 300 and what a difference it's made. I feel more confident going into 2nd gear from 1st now that it's smoother.

Ok, so I have a really dumb question about filling the trans fluid. I drained it, and have put nearly 3qts in. It finally started seeping out of the hole, and it just keeps on coming out. I can fit my pinky finger in there, but can't feel the fluid at all. It HAS to be full by now, using nearly 3qts. I've cleaned the threads multiple times and the area where it's leaking and it's definitely still seeping out. However...still can't feel the oil level with my finger.
I'm sure I'm making this more difficult than it really is, but I'm worried that if I call it good and button it up...I may find out the hard way that there isn't enough fluid in there. It's a little disconcerting when I can't seem to feel the oil AT ALL inside the hole with my finger. Car is absolutely level. Thoughts? I'm just about out of oil... |

If its leaking out and then stopping, the oil is right at the level of the hole. If oil keeps seeping out, then the oil level is higher than the hole. Maybe you can't feel with the tip of your finger? I think you're just over thinking/complicating it. Its only supposed to take 2.2L. You are working on an frs or brz, right? jkjk |
