It's between paint jobs. Peeling the PlastiDip (as you can see on the hood) and am probably taking it to a paint shop for a proper matte job. Used the dip to get a feel for it. The lines on our cars are perfect for it!

uploaded a sound file to this site. (didn't know how else to do it since it's not a video)

This was at 218 mi. I started it up in the morning. The idle was high as it was cold, once the idle settled down, you can hear a clear difference. I assume it is what everyone is talking it about.

only heard this noise when I looked for it, otherwise would not have notice it

TRD_86 07-07-2012 07:56 PM

I've noticed now that on occasion it doesn't make the noise. Just never when I want it to though, like when people are looking.

That's why I keep a recorder in my car to document this. I just posted a sound file. I wish a couple people would check it out to make sure it is the same sound.

Your noise is the normal Direct Injection noise.

The other noise is more like crickets or peeper(frogs). It also sounds kind of like a squeaky pulley or worn release bearing.

Thank you so much.!! I'll keep recording every couple hundred miles until I notice that and report back.

Honestly, it's pretty hard to miss. I can hear it inside the car at every stop light.

Why toyota have the GT86 for few months in Japan and do nothing ? why the japanese owner local there didn't do anything? Drive it back to their showroom and let them hear the cricket sing right in the showroom!

I think it has something to do with our US fuel.

Or Subaru's inability to design the part with other gasoline types in minds.
