Yeah, lets hope he puts the right one on.

I will be installing the 3.48" Pulley my self for him before shipment. Looks like my 3.33" is still on it. I'll be labeling the other pulley and he knows that it may or may not be usable with OFT and I have told him to talk to shiv directly on the matter. :)

There is no iffy stuff going on here... I Just threw him in an extra pulley thats just a hair higher boost in the case that OFT is able to support it without pushing limitations of the MAF sensor. It really depends on your specific setup. On a stock exhaust car with a stock header I would imagine the 3.33 be just fine, especially at higher elevation.

I wasn't suggesting that. Just hoping he knows what he is doing, he was running 87 at one stage iirc.

So glad I decided to not go the ECUTek route... :happyanim:

He knows whats up now, he has come a long way :) A lot of people have done stuff like that, and unless you know fully whats going on in the car its hard to tell what is and isn't safe. And honestly with the vortech kit... I would say its one of the safest routes to go. The MAF is designed to not require speed density and is far enough away from the compressor things such as dirty air filters, modified intakes, etc won't affect the MAF much if at all after it goes through the intercooler. Its far enough away from the throttle to avoid turbulence and a canned tune can probably work just fine for the majority of people.

Ecutek is not bad.

Visconti is the problem.

ECUTek as a platform is a tool like any from the toolbox. Nothing wrong with the tool itself... and I understand why some shops would want to use it ...but, in my opinion, it is over priced and needlessly cumbersome for the end-user.

When I was researching which tuning device/platform I wanted to spend my money on - ECUTek was certainly a solution I reviewed. I also looked at the Uni-Chip solution. I ended up going with the OFT product. For my purposes it was easily the best solution for me.

The OFT team has delivered a solid product. One that is EASY to use and is VERY economical. So when I say I'm glad I did not take the ECUTek route - that's just me patting myself on the back for going with the OFT/Vishnu product instead.

I'm happy with the choices I've made on the performance mods to my car thus far. Of the folks that have stopped and ask me about my car, and it happened quiet frequently with that sweet ass rumble, and they ask who "tuned" it - I proudly tell them.. oh just some guys out of California calls themselves Vishnu...

As it stands now, there are no vendor decals or stickers on my car - if I ever decide to decorate my ride - the VISHNU decal will be the first one to grace it!

Agreed, this is why i left ECUtek for OFT.

Well mainly because of Visconti.

So props to Vishnu  great service and people skills.

@shiv@vishnu ill be purchasing a vortech kit soon. my only issue is tuning, ive done some research on your OFT and love the results. due to my location (high elevation, denver colorado, 5280ft+), tuning is somewhat an issue. i was wondering if anyone else is in high elevation like me.

@shiv@vishnu Are these numbers with the 2.5" Perrin CBE or the 3"? How much of a gain would you anticipate using perrins full 3" (including the 3" catted front pipe) with your Vortec tune? Would using the 3" need a revised tune or will the off the shelf map work? Thanks

@shiv@vishnu

When should we expect the vortech maps? I am installing the vortech kit this coming Friday and I really don't want a 30,000 plus paperweight.

I don't expect any unique tuning requirements at your altitude. The tune is MAF based so it will be corrected for your lower airflow rates. You could always opt for e-tuning if you want to optimize the map your your conditions. Given your altitude, we could probably make the map a bit more aggressive since you will be running less effective boost than us sea level folks.

These numbers are with the 2.5" Perrin CBE. I don't expect much (if any) power gains going to the 3.0" version. It will be louder though. FWIW, we are running the 2.5" CBE without the optional resonator and I LOVE the sound. Personally, I wouldn't put a resonator in if given the choice.

Just email your original file to me (shiv@vishnutuning.com) and I can send you a .dev file. Keep in mind that it is intended for use with the OFH as well. Not intended for stock headers.

Are the vortech roms going to stay in .dev format or will there be .bin versions?
