I don't see why anyone would be surprised either way. If you're not happy be patient for STI variant to be released. As someone said recently, Toyota is not going cater to the power mongers only to the ricers.(I added the ricer part)

Now about the looks, the BRZ just overall looks and flows better. The GT86 is a hot mess rolled into one. When you look at both in person, you'll see the busy-ness of the GT86, but for the time being put both sets of pics together. BRZs side profile flows into the lower front fascia, wingless, the front fascia lower lip and side grill profile(lower lip area) are of european design.

I think I'm one of the very few here who likes the flat black front bar/grill section, I think it's one of the best designed fascia that's used currently in the industry(definately less obtrusive than Mazda or Hyundai). It'll allow future addition of a FMIC.

Overall it's smoother and mature looking. Seperates it from the tuner look to more of a grand tourer.

I think you're spot on with this. I've been playing with cars for years now, and I'm by and large done with driving things that will get negative attention. So here's how I see it:

GT86: Aggressive looks means that the car is going to get raced at stoplights by every car on the planet, and will lose 95% of the time, because that isn't the way in which this car is fast. It will get a lot of positive comments as well though, because the car just looks fast.

BRZ: Understated, if you want to be able to drive to work in peace, without everyone and their mother trying to race you, this is it. It's not as flashy, the front end doesn't scream"LOOK AT ME", and the car won't get nearly so much attention, but will perform exactly the same.

So while the GT86/FRS owners are getting pulled over, or explaining how it's a drivers car, and straight line performance isn't everything, I'll be driving past comfortably in my less sexy BRZ, because frankly, I feel too old to be putting up with that kind of stuff anymore.

hello,

why is there no subaru hood scoop?
sort of like the subaru 22b.

Guff 11-29-2011 09:40 AM

Now that I look at it, doesn't the front of the 86 have a bit of a 370 look to it? I like that.

It's a Non-Turbo Model. Subaru stopped that faux hoodscoop nonsense, since the 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX model. What rock did you crawl out from...

So there is no such thing as a Subaru Ricer? Being only a power monger....IS being a ricer. You post makes absolutely NO sense.

What does that have to do with a FMIC. Again, makes NO sense.

Post # 114 needs to have similar angle real world enviroment pics to compare. Or you are just showing brochure-like pics versus open environment which is not a fair comparison.

When is the STI version comming out???

Obvious troll is obvious.

Just realized why I thought the Concept BRZ looked like an RX8.....because of that black plastic in the front bumper. Very Mazda'ish like many have mentioned in here.

Hammerhead i-Eagle Thrust 11-29-2011 10:45 AM

I vote BRZ with 86 fender badges

i think the front end looks like a cr-z on a diet

He is saying that the "show" crowd will favor one brand while the "go" crowd another.

How is a ricer a power monger? Usually it means looks fast but isn't. It's also highly derogatory IMHO.

iff2mastamatt 11-29-2011 11:14 AM

i would probably buy this car in white, and this subie just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I', just a sucker for the LEDs, but the front end dosen't look too aggressive. Maybe a plasma blue one would change my mind...
