Your concern is valid despite what others have said. This is the main reason I refuse to tamper with it for now. Only thing I would consider is maybe a leather embossed Toyota emblem glued in place....

Adjust your side mirrors to cover the blind spits, and use
your inside rear view mirror to see what's behind you. That's the way I've always setup my mirrors.
