I think we all need to keep in mind that aesthetics are a perfectly viable and valid reason to prefer the old car over the new one. Just because people are (rightly) saying that aesthetics are pretty...

I know it's very weird, but that grab-handle in the gen-1 is so, *right*. As I think about it, my '71 240Z had it on the driver's side but *not* on the passenger's side. S2000 had it. To me, the...

Yeah, I'd prefer the old style handle as well. I wonder if this is one of those small things they did to try to bring the cog lower? If so, I'd still prefer the old style handle.

At the prices the 1st gens are going, is more likely that people might have to opt for the cheaper 2nd gen because the first gen is more expensive. So technically, if this keeps going, I could trade...

Ugm, no.

I can pay cash for a 2nd Gen, but would not, could not because I think it's ugly. I shall keep my 86 until I decide it's time to move on to something else, or it decides for me.

Gen 1 styling was a nod to the past e.g. Toyota 2000GT..

e.g. at the 2012/13 intro Toyota originally displayed the Gen 1 along side an original AE86, the 2000GT, and the Sports 800

I don't think that is at all realistic. Bolt-on K24A2s on E85 don't even make that kind of power even with cams..230whp on E85 seem much more possible.
