I would be shocked if they added the 17-20s to SSC. The car count is healthy and there is no "car to have". The gearing changes in the 17+ would ruin a currently good thing imho.

It's up to each person. The general rule from our local SCCA racers is that you shouldn't take any car to the track that you wouldn't mind losing. If you go by that then insurance doesn't make sense....
