It used to be about 30-40 cents more a gallon than regular but now it is consistently about a dollar more per gallon. I used to run on E85 because it was significantly cheaper than premium and gave better performance but there was only one station that had it near where I worked about 20 miles away. I have since retired and don't want to drive 20 miles to get gas. Today while sitting at McDonalds waiting for my order, I noticed a sign at the gas station that said E85@$3.29 a gallon.
Time to reflash my car and make it smell like a bar again. I haven't done the math, but it seems like I can get more miles per dollar on E85 verses 93 octane at $3.29 for E85 verses $5.00 for 93. I forgot the milage difference between to two. Anybody running E85 that can enlighten me?

Howdy everyone. I haven’t been around these parts in quite a bit but I still have my ‘13 FRS and still love it. I’ve got 99K miles and she’s looking a little worn on the outside after 13 years but what a fun car.

Anyway, what brings me back is a new weird sound going on. Video below and here’s some details:
2013 FRS 6MT and I’m the only owner
OTS tune with the OFT many years ago
Borla catback
Shifter centering springs (I forget who made them but this is the best mod for this car)

Aside from that nothing done that would affect the engine and trans.

I recently had two concerning things:
- a rat in the engine bay doing some nesting got caught on startup and partially shredded by the belt and basically spewed all over. But also was chewing something up and making a nest below the intake manifold. I haven’t found what it was chewing, some kind of foam.
- I missed a downshift on the highway and over revved. As far as I know it didn’t go too high but I’m not sure how much stress happened before I clutched in.

Sooo, now I have this odd sound. Doesn’t happen on start up, only after I’ve driven a little. Doesn’t matter the gear or rpm or whether clutch in or in neutral. Once it starts it seems to keep going. Has done this for a couple days now. The car drives normally as far as I can tell but I’m not driving it a lot until I figure out what’s up. The first time or two in the video is driving but under low load. The last is coasting and was either clutch in or neutral. I forget.

Edit: well after some searching and further checking it out, I determined it can't be heard from the engine bay and only inside. It seems like it could be a bad fan on the original head unit. I'll take that apart tomorrow and hopefully my repair is just get a new HU.
