BRZ OEM Brake Disk (Rusting?)

Hey guys, I just gave my BRZ her 2nd wash and she is around 350ish Miles. I noticed that the brake disk had an orange discoloration to them? I tried reaching in between the wheels and using some soap + water on them and nothing. Used a little brake degreaser and got a little something but still dident change them much.

Is this a common thing with OEM parts? because they really dont give a shit about the rusting? And if it is not.. does anyone have a proper fix?

======

Also.... but i figure i can kill two birds with one stone instead of making another thread.

I was about to wax my car as well but noticed two of my waxing products(Turtle wax, Megiuars ) Said something about not using them on matte/flat/satin finishes.. So i have a SWP, is that some wax product BS? or do people really not wax their SWP's?

disc brakes will always rust a bit when the car is sitting still. Comes right off first time you apply the brakes. I don't see a way around this other than having super expensive carbon-ceramic disc brakes.

You can't have an anti-rust coating on the metal surface or the pads won't be able to bite properly. Just the nature of the beast.

Not sure if SRS or trolling. Your rotors are going to rust when water hits them. There is nothing you can do about it. Your SWP is not a matte/flat/satin finish so you can use any wax you please. That disclaimer is for cars like the BMW Frozen paint editions.

brake rotors are steel with no coating on it

your car stops by creating friction between the brake pad and the rotor (there's a bit more to it but for now these are just the basics)

since you're after maximum friction, any concept of a coating goes out the window (because it would literally be scrubbed off)

and bare steel + water/oxygen = rust

which is why after rainy days or a car wash your rotors rust

and why the rust doesn't build up as quickly if your in a dry climate and constantly driving, as the chemical process by which rust forms is much slower.

They will usually come with a zinc-coating from the factory to prevent surface rust while in storage, which is why it is recommended to thoroughly clean all new rotors with brake cleaner before installation.

Cast iron, not steel. Which is not to say that steel rotors do not exist.

The FR-S brake discs do not rust. You bought the wrong car.

What is the average age of the people on this site I wonder? I'm new to the site but some of the questions posted are so unbelievably naive it's hard to take seriously. Either trolls are in abundance here or the youth really have no clue.

You really can't go by age. I'm 20 and I can change my tire without referring to the manual. (That was a joke based on a different thread.) In all seriousness though, not everyone starts getting into cars at the same age as the rest of us. With that said, half of all the new posters post questions that actually have nothing to do with knowing about cars. This thread for example is middle school science. (No offense to the OP.)

Correction, it's the waxy/oily/greasy stuff they apply to them to keep them in storage that has to be removed. Most aren't zinc coated and zinc isn't removed with cleaners anyway.

If you don't want rust, you paint them, simple as that. Or you can get them hot enough that they blue and naturally are rust resistant (I'm kidding, though I've done it before, and they still eventually rust if the car is sitting for any real length of time in a wet environment)

Please don't give people the idea to paint the friction surface of their rotors. You can only paint the non friction surface of your rotor which the nicer more expensive rotors normally already are painted.
