Fog Light Wiring Issue!
Hi everyone, so recently i decided to run some foglights and they were working just fine until i swapped my regular halogen light bulbs for HIDS .I used JDM Nigels harness and switch for my wiring. It was pretty straight forward.
Everything worked Untill i swapped to HIIDS, i used 2 35 watt HIDS, and its blowing the fuse on the harness. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? THese are the wirinig harness, they consist of 2 sets. One is for the switch which has 3 wires, ground wire, power wire and the white wire which needs to be connected to the fog light. What i did with these wires were: Ground went to a solid ground Power: i tapped it into a pink wire under the steering wheel to the left. i think this is what my problem is, Should i have ran this power wire all the way to the battery? The other set is for the actuall foglights. These also have a power wire, ground wire, and the white wire which needs to be ran through the fire wall and connected to the switch. There is also a relay and fuse on this set. For the power wire, this is attacthed to the battery, and my ground wire is grounded to the frame of the car. Yet, for some reason after switching to HIDS. The fuse is being burnt\blowing. Anyone have any ideas of what might be the issue here? |

It's most likely the HID igniters that are drawing too much power and blowing the fuse. This happens because the igniters pull the most current when you first turn on the HIDs. Maybe try contacting JDM Nigel and ask him if it's safe to run a higher Amp fuse. You don't want to just put a higher Amp fuse in there arbitrarily as you could risk a fire if the wiring can't handle it. I'm not familiar with the harness so I couldn't tell you what is safe or not.
