Lol I was joking... I use them for insurance, nothing else... But u sure about that? Because I can prove to you differently if I dig through emails. They won't cover performance/race oriented parts, I found that out when a 19 yr old chick rear ended my built 06 Sti while it was parked.

I was informed by them that they do cover them. I listed the parts that are on my car when I got in an accident and was assured that they would be covered if they were damaged. All I would have to do is provide receipts for the parts and they would cover them.

Basically, they treat having aftermarket parts installed on/in the car no differently than if i had them all stored in the trunk and were destroyed during the accident.

Just saying 1st hand going through the situation that's bullshit. I gave em my full list which was just sub of 25k in mods with receipts and all they did do was give me excellent condition blue book and gave me like an extra 3k for speciality vehicle... Talk is talk, just wait until the situation arises... Just saying.

It sounds to me like you're comparing apples to oranges. If a $500.00 part is damaged in an accident that the vehicle is considered repairable, they will pay for it. If a car is considered a total loss that's an entirely different story. $25,000.00 in mods doesn't increase the value of the total loss vehicle any where near that amount. The example I often used when negotiating total losses is that a guy can spend $1,000.00 (or more) on a set of wheels and there's a good chance he's lowered the value of his car.

They totaled mine because the hood was crumpled and I lost a headlight. They let me keep the car after cutting me a check though. Sadly, you can't really title something with a certificate of destruction without jumping through a number of hoops.

IL insurance policies don't allow you to buy your car back after a total loss insurance claim. Another shitty state law
