Search filter to exclude commercial stuff?
When I click on new posts I often find a large chunk of the results are advertising posts/threads from vendors.
I personally am unlikely to buy anything from the vendors on this website as they are all in the states. It's just not cost-effective with the shipping an import duties for me. How about adding some kind of search filter to exclude certain sub-forums, like the vendor section? This is a question to the folks who run the site, not the users of it.

This feature already exists through Advanced Search.
In the lower right-hand portion of the search page there is an area entitled "Search in Forum(s)." The default selection is Search All Open Forums. You can change this and narrow down your results. We do not run the site, just saw your question and thought we'd help. Cheers! |

^^^ Maybe I'm missing something here but how does that get rid of the advertising threads when using the 'new posts' feature? ^^^

I'm not sure of this because I'm as close to computer illiterate as a guy can be but one way around this is, instead of searching here on the forum, use your computer search engine (Google in my case) and see how that works for you.
