Lame or not?
Wanted to get input from everyone. In a couple weekends I'm painting my calipers red, and to set them off I wanted to put a decal on the caliper. I found a website where you can make custom decals, and this is the only thing I could think of to put on there that wouldn't be really lame, imo at least.
Give me your thoughts on this idea! |

Your brake calipers can get kind of hot, and will probably melt / burn any stickers that you put on there unless they're made for the application. Also, IMO if you must paint them, use black it doesn't look tacky like red painted cast iron calipers.

They are custom made stickers designed for high heat/calipers. I really think the right shade of red would make it stand out the best, plus it accents the red trim. I'm getting matte black wheels here within a few months, so it would be hard to differentiate the black wheels from the black calipers.

I had Nismo stickers on my calipers for my Z. They didn't melt at all. Stayed on perfectly for years. Let the paint dry and then rub some alcohol on the spot where the sticker is going before applying the sticker.

Personally, I'd go for black, red paint on stock calipers are just emphasizing that you have, well, stock calipers.
That's just me, as I value function over form, black for corrosion resistance and stealthy look. Do what floats your boat. |
