No start 2014 FRS MT
I have a 2014 FRS with a new immobilizer system after the previous owner put the battery terminals on backwards causing the ECM to brick. The key will read and does more than when I bought it but trying to jump pin 4 &13 on the OBD2 won’t get it to connect and communicate with all the new computers. Any ideas? In the photo are the parts I replaced from another 2014 MT FRS

Hey man,
You've now replaced the bricked modules with used modules from another 2014 MT FRS, but those modules are still associated with the donor vehicle's immobilizer/VIN registration. The Network Gateway (BCM), the Certification ECU (immobilizer system), the ID Code Box, and Engine Control module (ECM) all have registration and communication relationships that need to match the vehicle. The big problem is that we can't simply take the donor's already-registered modules and "handshake" them to your chassis like they're blank modules. Once control modules have been registered to a vehicle, they cannot simply be registered to another vehicle. This includes the following items: -Smart key or transponder key (keys) -Certification ECU (Smart key ecu) -ID Code Box (immobilizer code ECU) or Transponder key ECU (same location, behind the HVAC assembly) -Network Gateway (BCM) -Engine control unit (ECU) Before spending money on anything else, though, I'd still check one thing: with the key turned to ON, does the Check Engine light illuminate? Ideally, I'd also see whether the diagnostic tool can communicate with the replacement ECM at all. Those two checks should tell us whether the replacement ECM is actually alive and communicating through the Gateway, and that would give us a much better idea of where we stand before buying anything else. |
