Anyone up for taking up a collection to upgrade to the latest version of the forum? If I am reading the license terms correctly it's only a $250 one time fee

yes and no. vbulletin historically has been like a lot of other software companies. they don't patch things, they release a new version. and that new version can fix a few flaws, it will also introduce a number of other bugs that aren't avoidable 'unless you upgrade to the next version'... upgrading also tends to break certain plug-ins as well, so someone needs to be around to take the time to modify or update all the plug-ins, some of which now lack support for the newer version..

i've been part of a few forums that chased that rabbit. it's a whack-a-mole game with a price tag.
