To those of you that tried both the BRZ & FRS

How big of a difference is it really? Driving, feel, interior, etc.

I ordered a BRZ last month and have an ETA of December/January. While waiting, I test drove the FRS 4 times, and loved driving it each time.

I guess my only concern is waiting for the BRZ for 5-6 more months, when I can get the same exact car now and be driving it for that 5-6 month waiting period. Navi/HID is nice but not huge dealbreakers.

Drove both. For some reason my monthly payment went down $200 when I went with the FR-S. Weird!

Get a FRS, add a nice aftermarket stereo w/ nav, and convert to HID's... Then you'll be in the car you want a lot sooner and have the extras you mentioned you wanted that the BRZ (premium) has. Best of both worlds.

It's all up to you.

If you don't wanna wait, go for FR-S

If you want all the gizmos already in, go for BRZ

simple as that

I did try both. I really liked the BRZ Limited. All the extra upgrades were worth the cash to me. The mechanical HVAC controls on the FR-S feel like a kid's first Scion. The dual zone auto climate on the BRZ is a bit more adult. The HID's look nice and you get fog lights. Seats way nicer too. I mean waaay nicer. The FR-S cloth feels like its gonna pile up and look like an old sweater after a couple of years. Sure the FR-S radio is easily replaceable (and really needs to go) but the other features (like the interior) are not so easily addressed.

Buuut I bought the FR-S. Im a vain man and I like the front end of the FR-S way more. And its nice to save the $6k. If I was a more ambitious man I would have bought the BR-Z limited and somehow swapped the front end to the FR-S, but it sounded like more hassel than I wanted to figure out. And since year one depreciation is probably around $4k, assuming they might make a BRZ STI one day, I'll have more cash for that if it ever comes out. (Honestly though, for me, 200hp is enough power. I'm pretty sure you'll never need more unless you like getting in trouble with the law at stop lights or if you really track your car on the weekend and need to brag about lap times to your Porsche driving buddys )

Or perhaps cash for other mods, should I choose to take them on.

So anyway you go, your getting a great car. Pros and Cons to both.
They say they ride sliiightly different, but I couldn't tell in the test drives. It comes down to personal choice about looks and interior feel.

Happy hunting!

That's because they are higher quality that's what the extra ~2K is for, plus some other features that the FRS doesn't have
