Ole Yeller in the Last Frontier (My 2017 Series.Yellow Journal)

I figured instead of having scattered postings across the forum about me and my car I'll start a journal. I'm not really building anything, Subaru did for me! So here we go! Ever since I was kid (16) I always wanted a sports car (at least a sporty one). But... long story short now at age 31 I was able to buy my first new car!

02/22/2017

I bought the car from a dealer in Seattle, Subaru of Puyallup (awesome people btw). I was lucky, they were already selling the car at invoice and I got Subaru to give me a Loyalty Coupon, and after the $150 Doc fee I was at $28,900 OTD. And one of my favorite Extra Customer Service bits, is that the dealer swapped the Michelin Primacy's for a set of Blizzaks!

*My first batch of parts*

I received a care package today from #86speed! I know places like ft86speedfactory, 86speed and others do free shipping, but not to me in Alaska! When I found out I was going to be in Seattle for an overnight work trip it was the 86 speed guys who answered the phone and were able to get my order together and had it waiting for me at my hotel here in Seattle when I couldn't even get the other guys on the phone. That's some customer service right there! So now I have some goodies for my Series.Yellow for when it arrives Monday!

I picked up my car at the port!!

A Few hours later I dropped it off at CCA Motorsports for a Clear Bra on the bumper...

Now lets start adding some fun bits...

I found this car seat and it was meant for this car!

and the first real 'mod' Helix dark smoked side markers with amber LEDs which just set off the car I think

That Friday a friend of mine got me a invite to a Garage meet and photoshoot. I couldn't have been happier to be a part of the car scene and not 'just' a spectator... Here are some pics that where taken...

Later that weekend my wife, son (4yo) and myself took a drive down the Turnagain Arm (scenic coastal road) and everyone had a great time and there where no complaints about space! I was so pumped about this and I was just smiling while the family enjoyed the views, my wife took this snap at one of the scenic turn offs...

Back to some Parts! So my wife has Rally Armor mud flaps on her car and it does a really good job protecting the car and not flinging rocks at people behind you. And we are in Break up season, which means its warm enough for the snow to melt and the roads are slushy and the roads will freeze back up over night... So during the week my car looks like this....

So after I started the purchase process I contacted Rally Armor about making me a set for my car... With Yellow logos instead of the usual colors. And a few weeks later these arrived...

I installed my new dash cam setup this evening. It's a Rexing V1P which has the dual cameras and I got the gps module. Setting up the device was actually more difficult than running the cables around the car. Maybe
30-45 mins. I feel it's a good thing to have, and I'm interested to see if a autocross run looking interesting enough to share.

Front Cam

Rear cam

I also installed the finger print free trunk strap and it works really well. It might be the most useful mod I've done to the car (beside tires)

And lastly here are the kids waiting for me to finish sweeping out the garage...

I was looking at getting this dash cam, is the rear cam at all useful?

I was thinking about just getting the dash cam model.

The quality of image is not as clear as the front camera. You can't read passing license plates but you tell if the person behind you was texting. I'll post a sample video soon.
