Her name is Sera, Wondark's Grand Journey

Road trips, amateur photography, "mostly" cosmetic mods, and general spontaneity is what you can expect here.

I'm Wondark and I call my 2017 CWP Subaru BRZ w/PP Sera (as in Seraphim). I had been lurking the forums and decided to join mid-December 2016 and ordered my car only a couple of weeks later. I'm happy to be part of the community and appreciate the comfort and silly banter that it provides.

It's not likely I'll ever do boost or much more than a few bolt-ons. You might see a tune or something of the like but I'm comfortable keeping the car stock for a while. Some things I would like to make adjustments or replacements to are the side markers, the rear dash brake light, vertical front DRLs, some meatier tires and probably some things along those lines.

Most of my posts will probably be pictures and possibly some updates on occasion. I enjoy photography and would like to eventually get into something more with it. I like the thought of a Youtube channel but I'm not the Vlogger type, mine would probably be more inspirational or instruction.

Before I ramble on much more here are some pics of my car.

I'm not sure which states require a front plate but I'm glad that mine does not. The car comes with a front plate attachment that has a hidden attachment point, probably still mounts in the center of the bumper though.

They were that way from the factory! I was thinking about getting tint done but the more I drive it around the more I realize it doesn't entirely need it. I wouldn't ever put anything less than 35% anyway. My Prelude has a real dark tint and it's nearly impossible to back up and see what I'm doing. Unless I'm going forward in that car it's a death trap.

Nice! I can't wait to get there myself. Only 90 or so to go for me.

Holy cow, brake dust on these brakes is crazy! I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get some of those weird wheel wash brushes I guess.

All of the following happened at lower speeds on an empty road and our goal was to understand the systems, not see how quickly someone can go to the ER.

The wife and I thought it was time to learn some things about the car and decided to see what the Track and Traction control off buttons do. I would like to take the moment to point out that I'm still sort of new to RWD, differentials, VSC, and various other things about our car. Not that I haven't driven cars with variations (or in some cases all) of these but that I am new to understanding them.

We went to a parking lot and read the manual for a bit, learned how to turn them on/off and a brief explanation of what they do. It seemed as though track and "all the way off" didn't really do much to break the back end loose on any straight roads despite what I understood. I am certain I could have power slid or drifted a bit in the car (if I had tried) but other than feeling a bit less rigid I didn't feel like I was gonna jettison myself into a ditch immediately. All of our learning was done on straight road so it was unlikely that something bad would happen anyway. In all honesty there is no way I could learn much about the differences in this situation, without track access or a closed roadway.

With all of that being said, I don't feel like turning these automated features off is a recipe for disaster. I'm speaking only for myself obviously as each person has to worry about themselves. At the moment the only huge differences are when I do something silly in the rain, those nannies do kick on and say, "No."

Turn everything off and give it a bit of a feint and she will slide pretty easily on power. Practice it in a parking lot a bit before you start throwing Scandinavian flicks in traffic.

Yeah, I've been looking for an inconspicuous large flat asphalt area and haven't had a lot of luck (or just a lack of balls). The last thing I want right now is a ticket for reckless driving or a trespassing fine.
