2013 10 series vs 2015 frs
title pretty much says all.
im getting frs in march so thats like less than 60 days away from today. so far i have looked everything and came up with these two. both has around 30k mileage except 2015 is like 2k higher than 2013 10 series in price-wise. i love the color of 10 series. its like blue-ish silver and i just cannot take my eyes off of it. on the other hand, 2015 that im looking has halo color which i think is beautiful but the color itself is rather too common to be seen it on the road. and last but not least, is it safe for me to say they both look exactly the same when it comes to compare exterior of the car? i mean i thought 2015 would look slightly different than 2013 since it is the latest model than 2013 but they look the same to me. i don't know if 2015 is performancly better than 2013 ( which i think it is ) but yeah ... if there is any difference between 10 series and 2015 please tell me guys. i really need you guys to pick right one for me ... been wanting to get frs since 2014 and im only 2 months away to finally getting it. cannot be more happier than this. thank you guys in advanced. |

Well I am partial to orange so unless the 15 was a Lava I would probably get neither. The different years don't mean a lot if they have the same mileage and a 10 Series would be built after most of the 13 MY year teething problems were fixed so that would not factor in. I guess if there were no orange ones I personally would get the 10 since it is indeed a very cool colour and a bit different from the base models.

15's have a few updates over the 2013's. IIRC they fixed a problem with fuel injectors and a couple other things. Look around for 2013 problems.
IMHO you should forget cosmetics. If you pick by cosmetics you may pick a car that will have serious expensive problems. Take the cars to a qualified mechanic and have them read codes (even if the CEL is not on), check when codes were last cleared (like yesterday maybe?), check out the transmission and read tranny codes (auto), look over the body and look for hidden damage. You don't want a car that someone half assed fixed after an unreported accident. It should cost about $100 for each car to have it looked over and that $200 will save you a lot of money in the end. Pick the car that a mechanic says is in the best shape. |

How can you compare two cars for sale now, when you intend to buy a car in March ? Those two cars for sale may be long gone by March.
I'd be considering the suspension of these cars. Originally the FRS had different springs, possibly shocks as well, than the BRZ. Those early FRS models would hang their tail out more easily than a BRZ...meaning oversteer. Buyers of FRS loved that. For the 2015 model of FRS, things were changed in the suspension department, so that the FRS would handle more like the BRZ already did. I own a 2015 FRS. Wish I had an earlier model, like a 2014 FRS. That would be one year after the bugs were ironed out of both FRS/BRZ, yet this year FRS would still have the original suspension pieces...thus hang it's tail out more than my 2015. Additionally, for 2015 models of both cars, the upper shock towers were strengthened, but I would not care about that...most likely done for those who track the car. Between the two I would opt for the 10 series. I may be a little biased since I own one myself, but you get alot more than a base FRS. Dual zone climate control, Keyless access with push to start. HID headlamps with LED running lights with a motorized leveling feature. Frameless rear view mirror. It's essentially like a Limited BRZ just minus the leather and heated seats.

10 series. The dual climate A/C and push start, keyless ignition, plus superior headlights make it a better deal. The color is unique as well, and looks pretty good in person.

And don't forget another important reason for the 10 series - the passenger side dashboard has a cool lighting effect when you start the car at night!
