TRD Wheels

Hi All,

Relatively new to modding cars and since the FRS is the first car I've owned, I want to upgrade the wheels and tires eventually but keep it classy and not effect performance.

I've been looking at the current TRD wheels available for Scions, Toyota's etc. and stumbled upon this pair.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=3482

What have people's experience been with TRD products, reliability, quality, etc. I assume it doesn't get any easier for bolt-on (no modification) upgrades.

I would be open to other wheel suggestions as wheel, looking for something simple. For example, what is on the new porsche Boxter S or Cayman R. Looks wise, not the exact rim.

Any help would be appreciated. I've read the wheels 101 and its slowly sinking in...

TRD wheels are OEM quality.

That's a Camry wheel. So it wasn't designed for the FRS. I couldn't find anything about the specs of that wheel, so you'd have to do a little digging to figure whether or not it'll fit, and what size tire you'd want to keep your speedo right. That's all assuming that Camrys use the same 5x100 bolt pattern. So unless you've done a bunch of reading already, I'd start there.

So the point is, just because this wheel is a TRD wheel, doesn't mean that it'll fit this toyota application like a glove. I think maybe that's what you're looking for.

Edit: quick google informed me that the the wheel you're interested is a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. So, no dice.

I had to have my scion wheels that came on a tc bored out. It was a 54.1 mm bore and the Frs has a 56.1 bore just as a heads up.

Thanks guys, any clue if TRD will be coming out with wheels etc. specific to the FR-S. I assume yes, just a matter of when.

Did a little research on my own and it looks like a few options are coming.

Any idea on pricing, availability etc. in the US?

Just beginning to dive into the upgrades, maybe i should keep it all stock for a while longer.

I think it was mentioned somewhere that those black trds were somewhere in the 11,000 range. Without tires.

Keep it stock for as long as you can to get a feel for the car. There is no sense in putting something that looks good but make the car worse.

Take some time to do some reading and get up to speed. People could offer you all kinds of suggestions but you're best off understanding what it is you want and making your own decisions.

the wheels are actually 1500 each without tires not 11000. still a sky high price, they make volks look affordable. the brakes are like 11000 front and rear if i recall correctly. almost half the price of the car

So I'm still left drooling over some of the TRD Wheels I've seen as well as a few products from Rays.

I'd like to upgrade the look of the car without sacrificing performance or the suspsension (likely leaving it at 17" rims). What exactly are my options to do so with limited modification, or perhaps without even affecting the warranty?

I realize TRD parts won't hurt the warranty, but what about 5 axis, Rays, etc.?

Sorry for being a newb here, I've always had the desire to have aftermarket rims and I finally have a car and the cash to do so.

The only way an aftermarket wheel will affect your warranty is if something related to the wheel fitment breaks, or the wheel itself breaks while you're driving; in that case, the dealership will neither fix the wheel nor parts of your car damaged when in happens. Not that it matters, because your insurance will probably fix it in that case anyway.

No one thing you can do to part of a car can void the warranty on other parts. So if you pick up some Rota wheels, and your engine decides to throw a piston through your fender... Toyota will still fix your engine.

I think you're referring to the brakes.
