Thanks for posting your side of the story. Glad you're Ok, and hope you get back in the FR-S soon. Thankfully you have the Fit to drive for now, so at least there is no rental issues to deal with.
Jeez man. Did you read this entire thread? Damn impressive. I was a little confused at first when you mentioned the Fit, until I remembered I mentioned it in a random post somewhere in this thread. Oh, and my name is Jeremy too. Good name!

Darn skippy. It is a great and relatively cheap learning grounds for a new car/platform

Yeah, I'd sent him an email about a friend that had a new 3-series and was without his car for months...but unlike neutral, didn't have a second car and insurance was trying to make him pay for the extra time on the rental car.

Don't let it affect you too bad though. Everyone makes silly mistakes and we learn and grow from them. When this is all over you will have a newfound appreciation for your car

To be honest, I was hoping to get it for engine development and Turn In Concepts (30 minutes away from him) would be using it for their usual suspension work.
As stated a while ago, I was going to be looking for an early wreck platform to dive into internal parts development and fuel system work (with Deatchwerks)...so when this happened I received about two dozen emails, texts and PM's lol

What????
Yep, the BRZ (my 4th RWD car) is my first vehicle with traction control, and I've driven everything I've owned in snow (including two motorcycles). Hell, I drove my '99 MX5 through the last three winters and it didn't even have ABS. Never had a problem.

Once I've broken in the BRZ and become familiar with it, I'll turn VSC off here and there, but I'll leave it on most of the time. Again, for anyone who doesn't yet know the car thoroughly or have a lot of RWD experience:

Yea, I got a little sucked in. I joined ft86club because of this thread. As a former WRX owner I'm looking forward to seeing how this car develops.

neutral your a good guy, and a good sport. I really hope one day in the not to distant future you'll be sitting behind the wheel of an FRS again. I'm sorry this happened to you, but I know in the end everything will be ok. Your attitude is positive, keep thinking that way.

weeks before i was gonna buy a new car, i checked with the insurance company on hypothecial quotes for me on a few new cars. scion tc, civic si (2 door and 4 door), vw gti (2 and 4 door again), v6 mustang, genesis coupe (4 and 6 cylinders). the scion tc was the most $ to insure. i think several yrs of tc drivers damaging them made it this way. i think if the 1st gen scion tc came out last month, it would be the cheapest car to insure out of that list

Certainly no one hates you. Like many things in your life this will become old and forgotten. And, if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you, you've got it made.

I give you mad respect for posting on the forum about your accident... Glad youre safe, hope you take this as a learning lesson

but with that said... I'm both sad, irritated, and in disbelief inside..

I've seen enough 240's turn into parts cars from everyone who bought the car after it was the car to own and wanted to go drifting... Reading about technique, watching videos will do nothing for you but make you believe you can control the car, its all about experience... Now everyone will get in accidents, trust me ive been in a few but all pretty minor compared to this, and i know my limits. You need to feel comfortable with how your car responds and drives before you start pushing it... especially if its wet out! Like a lot of people mentioned... go to an autoX event... or a track day... or a skid pad... whatever... you wont be a good driver unless you practice and get experience.. the FR-S/BRZ are perfect cars to make you a better driver IMO... its def a drivers car.

I'll share a story with everyone...

Probably 5 years or more ago... I was home on break and I knew someone from HS who told me he also got a 95 240sx prob the 5th day he owned it as well. He sold his DC2 integra and bought it. Very clean s14... one thing that caught my eye was that it was a SE model with no sunroof which I've never seen.. (typically only base models had no sun roofs) He came over because he wanted to fix his stereo before his drive back to socal and wanted to test if his stock amp was busted so we did a quick swap to test. Right before he left my place, i told him.. be sure to take it really easy on turns since it was raining out. I said the rear end will kick right out if you give it too much gas even without a LSD, it wont behave like your integra.

few hours later i get a call.. that he totaled his 240.. Took a corner too fast, spun out, jumped the curb, and ran into a tree... luckily him and his passenger were also safe but I was shocked... I literally told him to be careful and he still managed to wreck it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE people.. leave on your TCS/VSC if you are new to RWD cars... and drive within your own limits! Its too early in the game to start see these cars in part out posts... =[[[[[[

My first car was an '84 Camaro... Within 2 weeks of buying it and getting my license (this was 8 years ago now,) I oversteered at 45mph on a damp 45mph corner. Naturally being 17 and having had my license for all of 2 weeks, I didn't know how to react and ended up fishtailing into a hill. Minimal damage, just injured pride, a dent that I pulled out using a wet plunger, and several weeks of repeated flat tires on the passenger side before we got the beads cleaned out properly. Taught me to respect the RWD though.

Did I mention this was the 92hp/130lbft I4 with over 250k miles on it? I'd be kidding myself if I said I had more than 50hp/75lbft. More proof that 200hp/150lbft is more than enough to lose control; the 86 is WAY lighter than that beast was.
