Call Scion at 1-866-707-2466. If we reference the issue enough the will address the issue faster.

**EDIT**

So posting my reps number helped me get things going faster, they are quoting June 25th now but I have removed his "extension" at his request because of the overwhelming amount of calls that he has received regarding this same issue.

So it looks as if there are quite a few people with this issue other than those who have posted here.

From http://www.fr-sforum.com/forums/fr-s...ight-fr-s.html

So yesterday I was on my way to the dealership to have them take a look at the car and the check engine light went away during the 30 minute drive in Boston traffic. I arrived at the dealership only to have them tell me there is nothing wrong with the car, I pleaded with them to look at it and they told me to come back if it happens again. Unluckily for me the car died while exiting the parking lot but at least I was already at the service center. The check engine lights where on, along with every single light in the dash and the car was shaking pretty bad. A diagnostic could not determine the problem but the head tech said that it was a camshaft issue and that it was not due to abuse but rather just a faulty in the manufacturing process. I have driven the car a total of 2 hours now and now I am stuck with a crappy toyota camry loaner. I guess I am the first for this problem, well see what it becomes.

Camshaft issue? What?

That sounds bogus. Well, I bet Subaru will sort it out.

^^That is my post from fr-sforum, originally when I brought it to the dealership this is what I was told because the CEL being thrown was in reference to the cam. They later told me that Scion does not want them to work on the car. They have flown a scion rep in from headquarters and he will be looking at the car tomorrow, I also explained that a number of owners where experiencing similar problems so they will be addressing this issue a little more seriously now. Let you guys know tomorrow

Wow thanks everyone for all this info. Hope it gets sorted out. It sounds like it may be the same issue for most of us.

I'm also having this issue with my FR-S. I've always noticed that once in awhile when coming to a stop and letting the car idle that the engine runs a bit off, lowers the idle like it's going to turn off then idles fine again.

When the car had 650 miles at speed it seemed like it had a miss and started running very rough like it had a misfire from bad gas. I pulled over and the car turned off. When I started it up again it ran like it had a misfire, shaking, and would turn off again. At one point it wouldn't even start. I towed the car back to the dealership (I hope I never have to use Toyota Assistance again because I had to wait 4.5 hours for a tow truck and I was in the center of a big city on a major highway). The dealership said it was bad gas but my guess is that the next morning the car ran fine and they didn't do anything.

The car now has 1700 miles and it still does it but hasn't done it as bad as that one time I had it towed. However, yesterday it did it again and started shaking like it was going to turn off. I revved it and it went away.

This is definitely a problem that needs to get sorted.

Sounds like we should all be calling that number and reporting this problem very soon. A very large chunk of us are all having the very same issue and putting it off. The sooner Toyota and Subaru know, the better. I am calling tomorrow morning, and would love to hear that others are as well. Let's get this figured out before it causes major damage (if any), and some very upset new customers.

As of now, whiteout-frs has posted a number to call with a case number to report on this page. I'll call tomorrow, and if all goes smoothly, I'll post the numbers to call on the first page for others to find easier, and maybe get a few others to call to get this sorted out sooner.

I'll call tomorrow as well. As early adopters it looks like we got what we asked for! ;-)

1100+ miles with 3 fill-ups of 93 (mobile stations) it did it to me 2x today once idling in neutral, once in first. It had happened to me 2 other times that I had noticed, and probably a few times I hadn't.

Just curious for myself, are you guys hearing anything out of the ordinary other than low idle/possible misfire sounds. Particularly any mechanical noise (rotational, repetitive, constant etc.) We should be able to diagnose this ourselves or at least get close. I personally don't think its solely bad fuel. Could it be a manifold pressure sensor or idle control valve?

Yea after hearing from some that are already on new tanks of gas, it sounds like a different issue.

As for other noises, I honestly don't hear much of anything over the struggling to run kind of noise. Its very random. I have yet to notice any kind of pattern. If there is any kind of noise, I have yet to hear it.

I have not had this issue. I have had the car since 5/30. 6AT autocrossed it been nice to it and have gotten into it. No issues. Even went outside now and just let it sat in nutruel 650 rpms min. Put it in reverse goes back to 550 but that's it. Nothing weird so far. Sitting at 850 miles.

Have you been doing stop and go traffic? Mine seems to do it at the red lights/stop and go. I have around 250 miles and that has been most of my miles tho. It may be why I am seeing it so much.

That's 4000 total times viewed I'm pretty sure. I've bounced back here at least 10 myself.

The reason why I'm not a 1st 86er is now showing up in these forums. My worst fear has come true, and I'm ready to buy now as in today but won't be until this shit is sorted out. I don't buy new cars to have them torn apart before the first 1000 miles, or 50-80k for that matter. Isn't that why we buy Japanese cars?

I do not believe for a nanosecond that they haven't heard or seen this issue on any of the Japanese cars that have been delivered already, or in initial testing. Bullshit.

I wish all of you luck in getting it fixed and taken care of, and am very sorry it is happening so early and to so many. I so badly want this car, but not if it's a mechanical turd. 7 years is what I need it to last.

I have the 'issue' but I have yet to stall or feel like it affected my launch so I'm going to just note it to the techs on my routine maintenance and not mind it. If I start stalling at lights because of it, I'll have them look at it.

For how the car is engineered, using direct injection, and whatnot.. I feel like this is somewhat normal for it to do (low rpm idle, jump a little, and fall back down). My Si would do this too, especially after I had the ECU tuned for performance.

For those having a problem (stalling out idling), it may be a mechanical issue that is past the normal tolerances. Someone mentioned camshafts, and possibly fuel quality. I personally think it's a tuning issue and has to do with how they are trying to burn fuel to reduce emissions. Again, the Si had rev hang issues due to it burning left-over fuel in order to reduce emissions. This could be a similar reason for the FR-S idling, I suspect due to DI at low load/rpm.

Is this only happening in the fr-s??
I haven't really noticed it, I'm 330 miles.
I stalled a few times but I think that was my fault.
I'm concerned

when I get home Ima leave the car idling to see if I can duplicate it. If I can I'll take it to the dealer. I have 500miles on the car and it only.happen to me in heavy traffic the first night I had the car. hasn't happen since. so I know it has to do with engine temp. maybe a derate mode it goes into to help bring temps down.
