Exhaust tip removal

Just one 10mm bolt holds them on.

Just unbolt it, then slide the tip off.

Now you can ditch the tiny Toyota tips and fit whatever tips you want until the exhaust system of your choice is available.

I'm just going to get a couple cheap tips from work. The guys at Cars & Coffee are going to have a good laugh, but I'm not going to rock those ugly tips for the next month or so.

After removing the "FR-S" rear badge, taking those ugly tips off was the second thing I did. If the rear valence exhaust cutout's weren't so huge it would look perfectly fine without the tips...

Yeah, I hate oversized exhaust tips. That's why I love turned-down aftermarket exhausts, because the tip diameter is usually the same as the pipe diameter.

How hard was it to remove and was there much residue? I did it once on another car but it was old so there was a lot of dirt can had to use a lot of rubbing compound to clean it up. I hope that since this car will be new I can just use a blow dryer and my fingers.

yeah so this happened when I was trying to remove the exhaust tip. Was trying to undo the bolt and the head of it twisted off. . . which means I'm stuck with these tips until I can buy some axel back exhaust. . . Oh well. Thought I'd post this as a word of caution, exhaust tips bolt = not very well made. Impressed that OP was able to do it flawlessly.

EDIT: If anyone can provide a way to get that bolt out and the tip off, please let me know, I don't exactly feel safe driving around with a broken bolt holding on my exhaust tip. Thanks!

Wow, mine came right out. Good to know! So people looking to do this should shoot a little PB Blaster before attempting.

As for removing it, you could try prying the point where the bolt contacts the pipe away from the pipe. The problem is that there is a band that goes around the pipe inside the tip. You might not be able to pry it much, but it might be worth a shot if you have no intention of putting the tip back on.

Yeah, I want a Fumoto valve for this car too. Easiest oil change EVER! But I've got a while to go, hopefully someone else will figure out the drain plug size/thread.
