Blue coolant? Jeez, manufacturers seem to have all the colors of the rainbow when it comes to coolant... Green, red, pink, yellow, now blue?

The blue coolant is the Subaru's supercoolant that they started using starting back in 08/09.

DO NOT MIX WITH ANY OTHER COOLANT!

1st replacement interval is 11 years/137,500 miles (220,000 km).
2nd replacement interval is 6 years/ 75,000 miles (120,000 km) after the 1st.

If you mix the coolant with other coolant though, you will be back in 30 months/30,000 miles (48,000Km) interval.

The color determines it's chemical compound, FYI.

The answer is yes, the chemicals in it help keep the head gaskets in good working order. If you mix and match the coolant then you have to put the conditioning stuff in your coolant every 30000 miles when you change coolant.

Is this good for any Toyota motor? Or just the FRS/BRZ?

This blue coolant is only used in the FR-S.

All other Toyotas use the pink SLLC.

What about the "Red Stuff"?

That's been going around too.

Well that's grand, but I could care less about Subaru motors. I'm more concerned about Toyota motors/engines; that is why I phrased it:

"Is this good for any Toyota motor?"

Thank you for the info though; I did not know that about the green/blue.

Toyota Long Life Coolant (Red) was used in vehicles up to 08/2003 production.
Toyota Super Long Life (Pink) is used in vehicles from 08/2003 production on, with exception of FR-S, which uses blue.

From the description in the owner's manuals it sounds like the Pink and Blue stuff are pretty similar.

Scion FR-S Description: "Use either Super Long Life Coolant BLUE or similar high-quality ethylene glycol-based nonsilicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology"
Other Toyota/Lexus/Scion Models: "Use either Supra Long Life Coolant or similar high-quality ethylene glycol-based nonsilicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology"

Toyota lists their Super Long Life Coolant as being compatible with their older Long Life Coolant.

Freaking awesome information; thank you so much. Asked around, and that was the most informative reply I have received!

That's total bologna. Subaru's magic blue coolant is just standard ethylene glycol based with a bit of diethylene glycol and some water (50%).

It's the same base composition as standard cheap green coolant but with blue dye instead of green and a higher price tag.

You can drain and go back and forth without issue.

11 Years! Holy insanity. I couldn't imagine waiting that long to change the coolant in my car especially living in Arizona.
