Snow in the wintertime

What do you plan to do during the wintertime? What do you guys think about keeping all seasons on the car instead of dedicated winter tires? Just looking for opinions and what others are going to do

Always always always go with snow tires. Especially with a RWD.

all-seasons is a misnomer.

I guess ill just get some steelies for the wintertime. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I can pick up some decently priced ones? As in decently priced I mean not 100$ a rim ahha.

All-seasons perform similarly to summer tires. If you can manage to get out of your driveway with all-seasons on, it won't be long before you're dead/injured and have a smashed up car.

Ever heard the old saying "jack of all trades...master of none"? That's all seasons in a nutshell. For your own safety, and the well being of your ride, get some dedicated winter tires.

winter beater comes out during rain/snow....

But as others have said, on a RWD car snow tires are a good idea.

See this why I said you should keep a FWD or AWD for winters. Then cover & put away nicely the RWD.

Given that you live in Chicago it only makes sense to have a dedicated set of snow tires. And if you don't I consider that reckless, regardless of what type of vehicle you drive.

All season tires, as noted above, are able to do everything poorly instead of do one thing well.

All-seasons would probably be OK for an area that doesn't see much snow if any, but does get below the minimum temperature recommended for summer tires.

I can tell you this. If your place snow like where I live, don't expect all season tires to grip. It's pure joke in the snow.

Specially this car is light, it needs much grip in the snow/ice more than BMW & other heavy weight RWD cars

tirerack.com had cheap steelies available last time I checked (email them if you don't see it on the site), get these with your winter tires so you don't have to worry about remounting etc (make sure you have a torque wrench).

FWD is only better if you don't know how to drive, AWD is only needed if you want to drive through uninhabited countryside. When I lived in the Midwest I knew several people who drove their Miatas year round with no problems.
