I love these types of comparison reviews, where they show the "personality" of the car, which is the combination of its power, suspension tuning, steering, and weight balance. The Motor Trend video with the V6 Mustang Track Pack versus the BRZ was another excellent example of this type of comparison.
In this one, you can see that the BRZ has very responsive steering and suspension, is very resistant to rolling, and is slightly down on power, but has a balanced level of power, which is offset by the responsive steering and suspension. The Genesis Coupe 2.0T definitely looks like a heavier car, as you can see that it can't transition as fast, but it has the power to stomp on the gas and spin the tires (which comes at a cost: a bit of a "snap oversteer" reaction in some of those left-to-right oversteer transitions, as well as slow throttle response due to turbo lag). The NC MX-5 is very light and lively, but lists like a sinking ship when heaved into a corner, and as we've seen in the Best Motor TV battle, is slightly down on power-to-weight versus the BRZ. After watching a comparison like this, you can get an impression of what kind of handling profile suits your personality. I want a light car with very responsive steering and throttle control, and that's what the BRZ shows. Of course, I reserved an FR-S last May, but all of these reviews have only solidified my position, and made me even more satisfied about my choice. |

I love the BRZ. After all the reviews the only bad thing that is said over and over again is no grip in the tires and a little underpowered. I cant help but to think if they make an STI version with stickier tires and a little more power (50ish?) the car would be perfect? I heard that they wont turbo it but can possibly make 50 more power on the NA motor. I am going to have to wait and see if this is announced in the next year or so. If not I'll just get the BRZ. It's just so hard to wait it out.

[QUOTE=YaX;224894]I trust R&T far more than any other automotive magazine. One of the reasons is the informative data panel from test drive articles. Here's the link to the one for this comparison.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/var/ezfl...d904352378.pdf I noticed in the drivetrain table that R&T lists the wrong speeds for the Miata. Given slightly smaller tires and a shorter second gear, the Miata should be slower at redline in second than the BRZ: but the table lists it as faster (59 vs. 58 MPH). I think R&T must not have adjusted for speedo error in making the table (Does the Miata even have a digital speedo? Analog ones always read high). Using the correct tire rotations per mile of 857 for the Miata and 845 for the BRZ, the true redline 2nd gear speeds are: 55.9 MPH for the Miata, and 58.6 MPH for the BRZ. This error might affect the listed acceleration times for the Miata as well. |

Great reviews, it's just a shame every review says the BRZ is lacking power.

If I decide I don't want a manual, I too am going to wait for a little more power. 30 hp/30 torques would be enough for me. |
