Looks like the road to my FR-S is over.
Just a day after i got my paper work with my Vin # i got a call from a buddy. He works at another Autoway and said they got a 2008 Acura TL Type S in on trade. I tolled him i was already got my Vin # for the FR-S and it was basically a done deal. Next thing he said was "you have to come look at this car" just to amuse him i said id come down and look at it. Now the Type S TL is one of if not my favorite 4 door car. Its sleek, sexy and LOADED with features. So i drove down to look at the car not thinking im getting this thing at all. Well the car is MINT like off the show room floor clean. So i talk to the used car manager who i knew from a few chats in the past. He tells me it has not gone threw inspection yet but if i want the car we could start doing the paper work and see what he could do. Well i got approved for the car put a down payment on it (-500 that's still on the FR-S) and just waiting for it to go threw inspection (oil change, tire pressure, filters the basics) and detail.
Now 2 years prior i almost got a 2007 TL Type S. I test drove the car filled out all the paper work had the KEYS in my hand and was ready to drive off the lot. Next thing i know the lender calls back and says "despite my greatest effort i have to withdraw are previous agreement" his reasoning was i did not have established credit. Despite paying off and never having a late payment on my previous car at the time. Needless to say i was PISSED! So i believe this will be the end to my FR-S journey sad to say. It wasn't a easy decision but iv been wanting a Type S TL for years now and i got it. I'm happy with what i got i know its a BIG jump from a FR-S. Its got every feature you can think of - a 6spd MT. I still love the FR-S and always will its amazing car. So most likely il still creep around the forums lol. Last edited by StuttterButtter; 05-23-2012 at 05:52 PM. |

I just sold an 07 Type S back in March. I enjoyed that car, but to me, it's far too disconnected from the road. The handling was decent, but the torque steer on the car was just atrocious. It's a great looking car, but in the end, I was disappointed in how it drove.
Compared to the Miata I'm currently driving, it's like driving a Cadillac...with a 6speed manual. No more than 3 weeks after I sold it, the new owner totaled it. ![]() Hopefully you'll have a different mind set than I did about the car. Good luck! |

You wont be disappointed.
I have a 04 TL *base*, Upgraded EVERYTHING other then the motor(oh it has a intake 'ooooooohh', not really). just turned 180k on her, and is still running like a champ. have the simple weight reduction mods done, and other DIY items. I love it to death, BUT i might trade her in for a FR-S, just because my wife just got a 08 Toyota Urban 4runner for our dog so. As for the TL, I did plan on taking it on the track but time has really not been there to do so. You will not be disappointed with that 3.5 inside, and lets just hope you got Gun Metal Grey ![]() If you want to know anything else, or just "tips and tricks" shoot me a message. Acurazine.com is your best friend now, spent hours on there. |

Congrats on the TL-S! That's a solid and handsome car. After my V6-6 Accord was deemed a total loss, I was in the market for a replacement and the TL-S was the next logical step. Unfortunately, they held their value VERY well and I couldn't justify the price tag for one. To top it off, the TL-S drove like my Accord with some mods in everyday situations. Of course, an Accord will never be a TL-S, but it wasn't worth nearly $13k more for essentially being the same car on steroids, IMO.

yeah i put 2k down on mine. If you want to know anything with aftermarket Anything just shoot me a message. I'll help you the best of my knowledge.
Lets just say I can compete with M3's here in the mountains with my basic 3.2l. Its all about having the right components, and my ride quality didn't go down the shitter as well. |

"Fan Boi"? yeah i have met people with boosted Si/hatch's/CRXs and they all say they would trade in a instant. BUT... Growing up in my life i worked on 7m's/5m's/sr20's/Ka24's and told my self i would NEVER own a Honda in my life. My 04 TL was my First car i bought, and to be honest its far from a civic on steroids, and beyond the "Fan Boi" dream because most of them people with the civics and such, will move on to bigger and better platforms. I'm not saying the 3.2L is a bad platform at all though, its great but it just doesn't have a market to support your "I'm pushing 18lbs of boost bro on a FWD...come at me". What I am getting at is the Acura TL's*3rd Gen and up* are a different class from the "hoochie" rice burners you see with glass-pack exhausts, and badass "hellaflush" cut springs.

I'm not really sure how choosing luxury over sport warrants a life failure, but different strokes for different blokes I guess.
