As for the side markers just to give you an idea on oem parts cost. A simple peice like a side marker on a celica is retail 56.00 for the marker, the little socket in the back and the bulb. Thats the same configuration that the japan part # comes in. So 99.00 for an OEM set that includes shipping from japan at this point in time is actually not that bad. I do agree that with time these price will start to come down at some point, or the market will be flooded with the aftermarket ones as well .

You definitely deserve a lot of props if you really get everything to the exact bone mirror image of the JDM 86.
Yeah I'm gonna 86 my FR-S too, just my personal preference. Just don't like the image Scion presents, especially here in SoCal. Prefer to disassociate myself with that, even if it is just a badge and all in my head. It will make ME happier.

Mine will be a mirror image of a JDM 86, only PITA will be the HID headlights lol.

In a Counter Strike dork voice (if you know who I'm talking about): WELL THAT DOESN'T COUNT THEN. EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I don't care to be a part of the scion image, but I'm not trying to hate on them. Just never cared for scion or dare I say it, even Toyota. But that's just me. So honestly I de-badge the whole car its self and I'd put up my own monograms or whatever.

I'm Half guatemalan...Toyota runs in my veins. That's ALL they drive down there. lmao!

On a serious note, I've liked the JDM look. I hate that we always get the "special" treatment in the US when it comes to cars. I had an Acura RSX, and was going to rebadge it a Honda Integra, but got deployed and decided to sell it. So now, it will be rebadged a Toyota 86 before I even drive it off the lot! It WILL HAPPEN! Muhahahahaha!

$56 for a pair or each?

i remember i paid $30 (pair) for brand new clear oem side markers on my s2k. obviously that's comparing apple to oranges, but it's just a side marker.

can you get prices on the jdm exhaust tips?

And after a quick look I can only see minor finish differences between the tail lights, maybe, unless its just the lighting. Other than that they look pretty much the same. Also I'm not feeling those Amazon versions.
I'm more concerned about main things that I'll see everyday and prob drive me nutz. I can either toss 'em in the fire and see which one melts faster or use them as target practice.

-Scion steering wheel
-Scion double din radio
-Scion floormats
-Scion emblems including the FR-S

Is your price the entire steering wheel or just the middle section with the airbag?

Are you going to do the TRS and BHLM? Baking them shouldn't be that bad.

I don't think the car comes with floor mats standard, so won't need to get rid of those technically lol. And the stereo, well that was getting tossed anyway lol.

I'm pretty sure that price is just the airbag, those things are expensive.

Idk about TRS/BHLM yet. I'll wait and see before I start taking apart things lol.

The red reflector around that surrounds brake light is missing, the reverse and turn refractors don't go all the way across and the brake light bezel doesn't have the pits and refractors in between each LED. All of these small missing details makes it look cheap.

Looks like we have the same view. That's why I wish they had a base model version like what Toyota used to offer. I can do away with all of the luxury items.

I think you might be right on just the center portion but we'll see. Aftermarket is always an option too.

That's all I really noticed. But I'm better at examining stuff like this when they are physically right in front of me though.

Instead of letting them go to waste, why not connect with an 86 owner in another country who wants to run the Scion badges? Like a pen pal, but exchanging parts instead of handwritten letters.

Yeah that's true. I'm not saying you specifically but some people can't tell the difference between a set of fake TE's vs real TE's.

pen pal! I was being a bit sarcastic about the bonfire. Of course, I would use the local classifieds, ebay and forums especially for in new/near new condition.

First up the JDM OEM Toyota front and rear emblems

The set will be $59.00 for the pair shipped here to Carson, CA
Shipping from here to most in the US should be about 5.95 via USPS Flat Rate Box Shipping

Next is the JDM Air Bag

This will $876.00 shipped here to Carson Ca, it will be about 6-8 weeks to get as it has to ship via ocean freight since its a Hazmat item.

And of course the JDM Clear side marker set

The set will be $99.00 shipped here to Carson CA, also about 5.95 to ship USPS Flat rate within the US once here

Or rice! eh.. I mean, nice.

I'm waiting for the red spark plug wires and shiny valve stem caps.

I'm really surprised that the steering wheel doesn't just have a changeable cover that just pops on and off , you have to change the whole airbag? Doesn't seem right.

Yeah, not just on toyota, but almost all airbags from most manufactures the cover is part of the air bag assy. thats how theyre designed to explode out. some actually split right down the cover to let the air bag deploy out

waiting on those now, we should be able to get them no problem. Its just that last week was golden week in japan, most places were out on vacation for the whole week and closed. So we should start seeing more prices coming in today. I will post it right away in this thread as soon as i have the prices.

So you either paid $30 for a pair after that car had been out for a long time on the market, and there was a surplus of parts... OR you bought them when the car was brand new. Back in 2001, 2002. When the exchange rate was averaging around 125, 130 yen to the dollar. Which was it?

In case you haven't looked lately, but on a good day you're only getting about 80 yen for a dollar... IF you have a good bank that doesn't gouge on fees. Most American banks are less generous right now.

There has literally never been a worse time in history to want to purchase JDM products. Last October set the record for the lowest the dollar's every been against the yen. Most things here are priced so that roughly 100 yen is equivalent to $1 (e.g. a bottle of coke costs 110 yen, a video game roughly 6000 yen, a new motorcycle is 700,000 yen, etc...). So when the exchange rate is as bad as it's been, ANY purchase is automatically 20% higher... and that's if you're boots on the ground here in Tokyo, buying it. To get stuff to America, there's shipping and customs to deal with too. And most businesses don't go through all the trouble of sourcing these parts, dealing with customs, etc... out of the goodness of their heart. Though to be honest, judging by the prices posted on here, I'm starting to suspect maybe they are.

TL;DR... Speaking as someone who's actually been living in Japan for the last two years, these prices are pretty damn good. Blame global economics for our woes.
