Canadian BRZ pricing announced - $27,295 to $30,495
OFFICIAL RELEASE:
MISSISSAUGA, ON, – Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced pricing for its long-awaited 2013 Subaru BRZ rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. The well-equipped entry model with six-speed manual transmission starts at $27,295, and $28,495 for the six-speed automatic version, as Subaru’s tradition of outstanding value is evident in the entry model’s long list of standard amenities. Key among these are standard HID headlights as well as a comprehensive assortment of user-friendly technologies anchored by a touchscreen navigation system that includes Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, Bluetooth audio streaming and smartphone integration. The Subaru BRZ Sport-tech Package offers additional comfort and amenities such as fog lights, a body-colour trunk spoiler and dual-zone automatic climate control. In addition to adding heated front seats, interior seats are upholstered with Alcantara inserts and leather bolsters. The push-start ignition with smart key also adds to the convenience of the Subaru BRZ Sport-tech Package, which has an MSRP of $29,295 when equipped with a manual transmission and $30,495 for automatic versions. The Subaru BRZ arrives in Subaru dealerships this June. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated BRZ delivers pinpoint handling precision and an unmatched driving experience for sports car enthusiasts of all skill levels. Utilizing Subaru’s naturally aspirated 200-hp horizontally opposed SUBARU BOXER engine layout, Subaru developed the BRZ with three fundamentals of sports car design: low vehicle weight, an ultra-low centre of gravity and precision steering. The Subaru BRZ is manufactured at Subaru’s Gunma, Japan, assembly plant. Adding the stylish rear-wheel-drive BRZ two-door sports coupe to Subaru’s portfolio of all-wheel-drive sedans, crossovers and SUVs showcases the brand’s penchant for engineering vehicles that deliver pure driving pleasure. This offering is intended to appeal to a new group of buyers and attract even more Canadians to the Subaru brand. |

Nice. I think I may have just been swayed away from a Genesis.

(What a kick in the balls to WRX/STI buyers...)

I asked my dealer if the prices were real, he said he'll look into it and let me know. He told me though that it shows my BRZ is docking on a boat right now in Japan. So much for it maybe being already in Canada. :P

Wow! Sub $30k!
We now know the secret to not being screwed by Subaru Canada... ensure all their ventures involve a partner selling an almost identical model to theirs.

This is Damn resonable..not a BARGAIN..but could've been ALOT worse.
I WAS expecting $32,xxx for the Sport-tech. Is this a sign of change on subaru's part?..maybe the next gen WRX will be a little more "fair"? I suppose it's likely the doing of the FR-S though

LOL - any WRX buyers have got very sore rear ends at the moment.
I figured with high demand and low volume they'd go for a lot more than this - but of course now with the Evo hatchet job out demand might drop, especially if other comparos sing the same tune. They aren't using the terms "premier" and "sport-tech" as model designations any more it seems from that press release - "sport-tech" is now an option package. So this will put a base model BRZ SWP at $2312 more than I am paying for a FR-S Whiteout with the upgraded stereo (group buy). For that I would get: - nicer seat fabric - cheesy silver plastic dash - different front end (pro/cons to both IMO) - slightly nicer IP - lined trunk hood - HIDs - nav - LEDs - more understeer ("boring below the limit" - Evo) - additional badge snobbery points Have to give this some thought. "Subaru's tradition of outstanding value" - press release

Well I'll probably save on insurance on the long run because scion is more expensive to insure. All the highschool students and college students(myself included, but choose to go with the BRZ just to say "I HAVE A BRZ FULLY LOADED"). Its been highlighted in many threads that Scion will be more expensive to insure compared to other brands. On the other hand, its the same car different companies, so it would be interesting to see insurance costs. |
