$25k(including destination) is overpriced. That's like $27k OTD w/no options

And the problem with comparing to Miata, GC, or any other price, is all other cars are negotiable. The FR-S price can only go up. Every other car you can negotiate down.

A year from now, you will probably be able to get VIP pricing or negotiate down on a BRZ premium for the same price as the FR-S.

More like 27k-27.5k with TTL= OTD.

You can get a new mustang for cheaper than a Scion. 100 more hp, same gas mileage, regular gas. Yes its heavier, less agile. But put the extra 2-3k in suspension upgrades and pit it against an fr-s it will probably win in all categories. Sorry, just bitter now like everyone else.

  • $22,200Starting MSRP1
Equipment Highlights:

  • First-ever 305 HP, 31 MPG V6
  • 6-speed manual transmission
  • HID Headlamps

2 days ago i was sitting down in a mazda dealer negotiating the price on a mx5 black soft top touring manual. MSRP was 27.5k they were going to let it out the door for 25.5 including taxes. I was about to sign but had an itch and decided to wait on the frs. If i dont get more information from the scion dealer in the next 2 weeks. I may have no choice but to pick a mx5 up.

I know many here may not agree, but it just seems reasonably priced to me.

Here's hoping it comes with the goodies people are expecting.
If it's got the goodies, people will lineup. Some people keep saying they don't want the Bespoke to be standard but that one item will sell the FR-S to some folks. They will see value.

I still say at $25k it should have at least come with the HIDS.

I was just one of those you really wanted Toyota\Subaru to make and sell 100k units per year. I know somebody was smoking crack when they said that, but I could care less about exclusivity. I think Scion will have trouble selling 25,000 units a year.

Don't do it....a new MX5 is coming next year. The FR-S has more room and is the better car.

But the FR-S is not coming to June.

2007 Miata had a base price of $21,280 up to nearly $30k, many would consider that "affordable" ...and it would make fairly logical sense as the target competition for the concept at the time

If you bought it from a dealer, it's marked up. I consider any option that I don't want as mark-up, therefore every car has mark-up.

Finally, someone releases the price...That's a bit high though, especially when I could get a GTI for almost 1-2k cheaper from past negotiations I've had. But I would rather pay more for a better handling rear wheel drive sports machine than a hot hatch. This price plus low production volume may end up making the car more expensive over model years too, depending on the demand.
Welp don't know about the scion, still hoping BRZ is not super expensive. Gonna have to come down to the test drive over the summer...

I'm not surprised. Traditionally low output sporty cars cost more than the RWD medium sized high powered sporty cars. The old celica could be optioned out to 28k with FWD and 180hp. Also my car when brand new was 21k so I knew there was no way in hell a car with a better engine + D/I and RWD would cost 22k. ZGrinch is so right about price expectations.
