AVO front res pipe and over pipe...how come so few using? Updated ill be guinea pig..

Wondering was Avos front pipe and over pipe designed only for TC? Site says for both but don't see any chatter of these offerings so wondering why not I suppose?

I'm not TC or SC but in market to add front pipe and over pipe to my Lachute cat back and res mid pipe.

Both bits look real nice

I didn't know that AVO made over and front pipes for us. I just checked it out and I think I can see why no one is running them. $$$

I thought Perrin was expensive but $390 for the AVO over-pipe? Ouch!

Yea there are ceramic coated to though. I phoned in for my own education on the matter and found out reason they were doing there's coated is due to the heat impact on closest surrounding bushings. Apparently in testing they found the bushings to soften up etc. Their front pipe also has the available port for wideband O2 sensors which is a nice future proof thing for FI consideration down the line. Guess ill take the jump and let ya all know once in my mitts.

If you go through a good vendor you can get a good deal on them

I'd consider $200 to be a good deal for an over-pipe but only if it doesn't hit and rattle on the subframe and/or sway bar like most aftermarket versions do.

I hear ya its just a piece of pipe and all and like you said there are a few high priced ones that do hit and rattle etc.. Not something I will just live with. This was also a question of mine that I asked of Paul with Avo, his answer was guaranteed no rub, approptiate clearance, good fitment.

Regardless so much of what's out there, is in many ways over priced for our cars anyhow.

Ill take some pictures and make some observations on exact fitment when I have it in hands and report back. One things for sure if there's any thought of it being too close I simply won't run it, ill send it back.

Well That's the thing it's not just a piece of pipe, it takes time and skill welding curved pipe together in order to create a shaped pipe that does not make contact on our vehicles. Not to mention the AVO OP is also ceramic coated.

Good Luck finding an OP for that price...either you got the greatest deal on the planet, its used or its a piece of junk.

I have a hard time paying $100 per whp for typical 86 bolt-ons but ~$600 per whp for the over-pipe is obscene. Unfortunately it's just not an easy piece to make and I don't fault anyone for charging what they are for them. I'm not sure but I suspect PLM is Chinese made and even that costs $200. I just really hate to spend so much for a small section of pipe that makes such a miniscule performance difference. OTOH, I hate to run a 2.5" header collector into the 2" oem over-pipe even if it only costs a couple hp.

I suppose that if the AVO version fits perfectly, it's worth it. Looking forward to your results with it. I already have the Borla UEL and I just ordered the Tsudo HFC front pipe. I'd really like to replace the over-pipe at the same time.

I'm not familiar with Private Label MFG, but I will take your word for it. Remember that is a vendors price, retail is $250 and it is not ceramic coated.

They're widely available at $200 shipped. On eBay and a few other online vendors. Some actually sell it for a few bucks below that, but charge shipping.

Avo is the only company making ceramic coated overpipes. Personally I'd rather just wrap it. In any case, I've never heard of any issues arising from one not being coated/wrapped.

I won't deny its expensive. But if it fits perfect and all works 100% perfect that's worth something to "me" anyhow.

I surely will be reporting when get my mitts on it.
