Brz Production Numbers

I got an interesting email today from my sales guy that stated Subaru would only be allocating 540 BRZ's to the United States this year. I was initially pretty surprised but he is a Subaru enthusiast like most of us, and I've known him for a while. The info he gets on most Subaru products is dead on. If this turns out to be true, the market for these is going to be crazy.

Hello and welcome.

If you have never been on an automotive forum before that is fine, ft86club members and its moderators ask that you use the search button.

In an effort to prevent new threads from popping up hourly, this is a simple request.

Have a good evening, we look forward to providing you with answers moving forward.

there are about 600 subaru dealers across america, which means less than 1 brz per dealer.

http://www.subaru.com/company/index.html

i haven't heard a single person here say that their dealer wasn't getting a single brz. not sure how accurate that 540 number is.

Keep in mind, it's broken up into a 7 month allocation. So some dealers are only being allocated 2 over 7 which equates to far less then 1 brz per month.

Welcome to the forum Bandit. Don't worry about these whine bags and there excessive threat B.S. They are just all testy because they don't know prices or numbers of cars that are coming to the U.S. market. As soon as they know price they will be all better.
The info you are getting is partially correct. It is not 540 cars total, it is 540 cars a month for the first 7 months. Then who the heck knows what kind of numbers after that.
From what has been beat to death on here and what we have been told Toyota will get most of the cars produced. Not to sell as dime a dozen Scions but for Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) and European market.
After the first initial wave of release cars there should be enough to go around. 540 cars a month for a whole years is 6,480 cars a year. That's a decent number. Unless this car just proves crazy popular that should be able to fill orders.

It's not accurate at all, in fact If I had to guess, this is all a bunch of marketing ...

They will make as many BRZ's as they can sell and then they will make some more. This is a subaru, not an exotic. The only reason they decided to make this car in the first place is because they feel they can sell enough of them to make a profit. Otherwise it wouldn't exist. At some point there will be a surplus, count on it.

This is what he told me, he works for the 3rd highest selling dealership in the country,
"Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, we found out today that we're getting 49 of the 540 allocated to the states.* Thanks!"

So the newbie's question was still not answered.

That 540 units/per year number is not correct. According to the old news on this forum, that number is probably 540 units/per month for US only, and IMHO I even question that number. Given the 7 month run for this year, many dealerships will just get 7 to 8 units *this year*, but some dealerships are claiming to have 17 units allocated (for this year? or initial run?).

I am suspecting that this sales guy is trying to pitch the idea of exclusivity of BRZ. That is my personal view, though.

Like I said, I talked to a few dealerships who are only getting 2-3 over 7 months. IMO this 540 per month info is legit. 540 over 7 is 3780 cars for the year. Thats right in line with the original estimates (from months ago) saying 3000-4000.

Well you need to get back with him and tell him to get his crap straight. Seriously!! think about it. Around 600 dealers in the whole U.S. and only 540 units a year and he's gonna get 49?!! Whatever!!! I have some Ocean front Property in Arizona if you're interested.

Nah, I still say that it's 540 a year and we all have to have a "Hunger Games" to see who will get one.

5000, 3500, 3000, 1000, 540.... With this trend when I'll be buying one, they will tell me "You got the only one, allocated for US for this year!"

What a crap!

also the website mentioned that the car would be built in extremely limited quantity. It makes sense after all.

WHY? With Scion at 25K+ people will turn to Subaru. Scion may cancel FR-S if initial sales numbers are too bad (remember, at start they said 10K Scions, 5K Subie).

Its justa game to force markups. BS!
