EL vs UEL headers

I see many people on here prefer UEL headers, but honestly, wouldn't EL be better? Seems to me like the flow would be more even and result in better fluid dynamics.

I am no physicist, though, so I could be way off. :P

EL does flow better, UEL gives the boxer rumble which many people like.

Ah gotcha. Thanks! Does the EL sound bad or just not as good as UEL? lol

Different. The EL sounds 'racier'. More like a regular 4 cylinder.

Is there such thing as a audio clip or youtube of a stock 86 with just the uel header? Most clips i find are ones with exhaust and other mods.

That... doesn't look like stock exhaust to me, but it might just be the camera angle.

The tips are too round to be stock and the muffler is too shiny to be stock.

UEL vs EL has come up several times. Not seeing a very massive difference between tuned UEL vs EL sub 300 whp. Very minor if anything and not noticeable. It comes down to, can you sacrifice anywhere from 3-10 whp (depending on FI or not) for your boxer rumble? That's literally the difference you're going to see running UEL instead of EL.

EL would be a must for the stage 2+ turbo kits pushing above 400 whp or someone who wants to squeeze every ounce of hp they can out of a part. Even then, no one can tell you that you can't run a UEL at that whp level.

Err.. okay, so, dmittedly, I have no experience with H-motors (boxers), but in a typical I4, you would be ditching the header in favor of an exhaust manifold when going turbo... how does this work with a boxer motor since the ports are split into 2s, with each duo on oposite sides of the motor? In a V6 or V8, also with split cylinders, you would twin turbo teh SOB and call it a day, but that would be overkill on this tiny motor.

I don't have much experience with them either as this is my first run with one. I've just been comparing dyno charts done between headers. Turbo manifolds are very similar although ones like the P&L Header, or the FA20club manifold is a hybrid header (NA or FI) based on a V-Band clamp that wraps in the front determining where the pipe goes. The longtube design has also produced pretty substantial numbers tuned.
