if you can afford it then I say no. If you're making car payments instead of contributing to the college fund then maybe yes.

1.5 and 4 year old. We have a new Santa Fe for the trips and groceries but for dropping the kids off at daycare before work or going to friends I want a fun car. Also has to be usable if the main hauler is in the shop. So 2 seaters are not on the table, ever.
So used 911, GC, Mustang, FR-S/BRZ are the only options for me - not a fan of BMWs. |

I have 3 kids, ages 18 (in college), 15 & 3. We have a Ford Flex that's the family hauler so I'm fine with the FR-S as my daily driver.

I grew up with a dad who had 2 door cars as our family's only mode of transportation... a VW Beetle (engine caught fire and I was the backseat smoke detector), then a '69 Mustang which got traded for an '84 Firebird. Sell your other car(s) to start her college fund. Might as well make use of the 2 rear seats you're paying for which happen to be perfectly sized for little people.

Have a 5 month old son. We have a Impreza hatch for family trips. I want a fun car for DD and picking up our kid/grocery duties when needed. As others have said a 2 seater at this point is impractical and not possible for me. BRZ fits the bill. He'll love riding in the BRZ. I already know it.

I'm 5'7" with a 30 inseam and I like riding closer to the pedals. Should be ok. Mk4 Jetta has room even in rear facing. But you're right - no final deal till I see it for myself.

I have a 12 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. We have a 09 Tacoma Dbl cab and we had an 05 Honda Odyssey until last friday. My wife was in an accident and it was totaled. So now I will be looking for a new family hauler along with waiting still for an Frs/Brz. I am hoping they will fit fine in the back of it.

Note to all dads of infants: car may not accommodate a rear facing infant seat!!
Rear facing seats required until 12 months old, but even after that, experts say rear facing is the safest and recommend rear facing for up to 24 months. As a rear facing seat barely fit in my WRX, I don't think it will fit in the FRS, even with the front seat folded. Press release said a forward facing seat would fit. As for the poll - yeah, I have a 3 year old. He climbs in his seat by himself. Will be in a booster later this year. |

Have an 11 year old and a 7 year old and we have a van for the family stuff. This one's all me. Was just important to have seating for short trips (10 minutes or less). Definitely not planning on doing any long road trips with more than 2 people. |

I have a lil bub that's nearly 11 months old, and I'm still pretty keen. I'll be worried if we ever have another one though, because as someone pointed out it probably won't support a rear facing seat, so I may have to swap a trusted family member for 6 months if that happens.
Sure you've got to look after the kids, but remember to have a bit of fun yourself too! This car is going to be my fun. ![]() EDIT: Having said this, my partner will now take my Mazda Tribute when the 86 comes along. Small SUV is good enough for transporting a tribe. |

I have a baby coming soon (my 1st one
) and for family trips I've got an r50 pathfinder now, and will upgrade to a clean/used LC200 or any other full size 4wd as I go a lot to off road trips with my wife ![]() My wife hates small/sports cars.... So I'll keep the brz for myself

Too selfish, I hope not. I've got a 6 month old and a 2 year old and have every intention of using the back seat for them. The wife drives a Matrix for everyday stuff, but I don't want a fun car that my boys can't have fun in too. I'll be getting a winter beater to, so there'll still be two four door cars.

Should definitely be a sub-group of us forum users in this situation. Let's call it the "Dads who are still buying an 86/FRS/BRZ because racecar club". Yes?
