that depends on the internals and the block.

Open deck block, cast rods, cast pistons, cast crank, 12.5:1 compression ratio + boost = boom.

+1

Is anyone looking at decompression plates for boosted stock engines, seems less labor intensive then replacing pistons.

The piston bowl guides the fuel spray, I don't know how the timing works exactly but this may not work.

Please don't ever do such a silly thing. Sure, it will lower static C/R; however you will completely ruin your combustion chamber efficiency. Quench is a good thing!

why everyone excited for greddy kits, they are usually way to over priced and make half the gains of other alternative companies. For Example Full Race gets an rsx to 450 hp for the price of the greddy kit that gets you to 250-300 at most.

That's a purpose built car for drift and from what I recall is 600hp. You don't really think that thing is stock do you?

It's a built EJ257. It has nothing at all to do with a turbo kit for the FA20.

You guys all make me laugh.

For months, this is all I've seen from people on this forum:

Now we have an inkling that there will be a quality turbo kit offered by a reputable manufacturer, and all you can do is bitch?

I guess it's time for me to start selling turbo kits on eBay for all the yod00ds on this forum:

500whp capability! No forged internals or ECU tuning needed! Yours for just $799 plus shipping from Taiwan!*

*buyer assumes all responsibility for installation, voiding of factory warranty, and engine damage as a result of purchasing/installing this kit. No returns accepted. Call 1-800-NOO-HELP for customer support.

I understand your sentiment, but a lot of the complaints are pretty legitimate as far as Greddy is concerned. The only thing they are really good at is product placement, i.e. first to market. Other than that dollar per gain is pretty lackluster compared to offerings from other companies that piece together really good kits.
Most important thing is, Yay! looks like the aftermarket is building up for this car pretty nicely and it isn't even released yet.

I like this guy

I agree completely. I'd wait on the specialists to come to market. At 3MI Racing, I do internals for Subaru's and that's it. I've been talking with my buddies at Full Race, Cobb, Deatchwerks, Turn In Concepts, Kartboy, etc...we're all just waiting for the ball to drop. We don't have our respective cars yet to whore out our products

Give it time.

^^This is exactly what I thought of when I heard the news. Most of the people on RX8 club that still have their cars do NOT own, or recommend Greddy for almost anything.

I don't see this happening at all. Seems to me like people are speaking from experience or personal exposure to Greddy products. And I have to agree with the nay-sayers. Greddy has an abundance of capital and engineering talent, is first to the market every time, and yet somehow they end up being outshone by smaller, more passionate organizations offering much better value and performance. My money is on history repeating itself with the advent of the FT86 platform.

It's not just the supercharger though, it's supercharger + exhaust + who knows what.

like this GReddy argument, I hope someone like KraftWerks comes out with a Rotrex supercharger kit that makes more power and costs less than the HKS kit. But hey, gotta start somewhere, right?

This is so true. No matter how any of us feel about Greddy this is good news for the 86.
