direct injection only engines are prone to carbon build up. the FA20 has both and port injection to minimize carbon build up. do you forsee carbon build up in the FA20?

Does anyone know if the camshafts are hollow? And did we ever determine that the conrods are forged?

Yep, this did not look good as did most of the highly loaded surfaces. I can only assume that it was run hard when the motor was still cold.

Yep, the motor looks solid. I would be happy with your choice to purchase this car.

Another long shot... are you guys running a 6AT?
Zero baffles in the pan but there is one in the lower part of the block. This motor is from a 6 speed manual.

We see a lot of carbon build up which can be seen in these photos. But we also see a lot of oil in the intake manifold, so our guess is this is this is the reason for the carbon build up on the piston and combustion chamber.

do you think it's bad enough where we need to bring it into the dealer to get it cleaned up?

I'm not too familiar with boxers but do we have oil squirters? How's the oiling on the journals?

If you can elaborate on any potential weakpoints you notice so far that would tell us heaps!

Do you see any improvements to be made in the intake manifold? That FA crank looks beefy compared to the EJ crank, no?
