Yeah, I just don't see being able to load and carry "a whole set of race wheels and tools to the track" unless it IS a hatch. So here's to hoping!

Edit 1: I still can't see the pics. Can someone else confirm if they see the PS pics of the test car lowered?

Edit 2: I wish I could get a tour of that "Ring" garage you mentioned. That would be so awesome. (Maybe even get a ride-along in a test car? )

I work at the dealership, but received this information from our dealer rep from corporate. Again, take it with a grain of salt. This is based on what they are told in meetings and we're still about a year or so away from launch...

Also, Jack Hollis (Scion VP) announced: "How about a 2+2 seating configuration… with a fold-flat cargo area large enough to transport a full set of race-spec tires… a floor jack and the necessary pit tools for a fun day at the track?". So the info fed down the ladder may simply be Jack Hollis' quote from the unveil in April (Link: http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases...ack-hollis.htm ). I can't imagine a set of track tires and a jack fitting in the car if it's not a hatch. Fold flat > 60/40 split seats

So I guess. I highly doubt Toyota/Subaru won't attack the Nur without all range of stuff.

Ya maybe that type of light, but he also said that:

I was just saying not to rule anything out because mine is a lift back and my 3rd brake light is in the same area as the concept on the "bottom" of the window

My car's not a hatch and it carried an extra set of 225/45/17 tires just fine. So that doesn't prove it's a hatch at all.

Dont expect large differences between models at all.

I think it will be a lot like Toyota Verso-S and Subaru Trezia, where Subaru made only smaller changes to the design inside and out.

Subaru worldwide can not sell large numbers of this car, Toyota can.

Subaru makes good cars and they are on the upswing, but due to their relatively limited sales, they are not THAT profitable... for instance they made $600 million last year on sales of 650k cars worldwide, while Toyota made >$5 billion.

As such Subaru needed major partner to share components with and Toyota needed more engineers and production capability at the time... hence they purchased minority ownership in Subaru.

I'm not saying that statement proves it as a hatch, but that is does point in that direction at the least. The info I received may have been based on this statement as well, versus being blatantly told it's a hatch. I'll check again to see where the info was derived from the next time I see him ( in a week or two ).

Based on the dimensions of the concepts, the trunk space will be tiny... especially when you take the rear seating into consideration. The Civic (which year?) has a relatively large trunk in comparison. (Sorry, can't find the pictures of the p-shop of the FT and S2k/350z overlay).

The trunk only need to be big enough to hold my autox / track supplies. Any bigger than that and it's a waste of space~

How much do those 17" Enkei rims weigh?

EDIT: Found out they weight in at around 21.5 lbs... eh not bad.. just as much as my stock Scion tC rims.

but we know what is the size of concept - it is 4.2m meter in length, same as 130i sedan for instance... It is also slightly wider and a lot lower.

So I would expect trunk like in 130i, which is not bad at all...

If I'm not mistaken, this car is slightly bigger than the Celica.

Considering that, and how big the Celica trunk space is, I don't see it as an issue.

Hi Aki, given that Civic has a 4 door variant and it has a larger, I would guess you can easily fit 4 wheels in your car fairly easily. BTW, how do you fit those 4 wheels for your track day?

I am guessing the trunk space is probably between 250 and 350 liters (9.3 to 13 cu. ft), probably in 300 liters (11 cu. ft) range. If this is a coupe with trunk, I guess you can only fit 2 wheel in the trunk and than put the extra 2 on the back seat. With a liftback and fold-flat seat, you can lay then on the floor without bags to protect your interior. Otherwise you need to get the tires bagged and put them in the back seat. This is what I am guessing.

BTW, anyone could share a picture of the trunk/liftback on 7th gen celica? I think this car should compare pretty good in terms of the size of that celica, so we might have some hints on size.

And xravexboix, thanks for the info. Hopefully this is true when they release the production version.

Did they bring a ScangaugeII?

I'm also curious if you can hijack/share the windtunnel reports including the one for the first concept. I've got some buddies who would enjoy reading it . If not just the drag Coefficient with the frontal area would be great too! Most companies don't share even that tiny bit of info with us .
